Default E-mail from Paypal

I had an e-mail from Paypal in my Junk folder from following e-mail address;
(service@paypal.security.co.uk)
Is this a legit e-mail address for them or not?

The e-mail basically says the following ..

We've limited access to your account temporarily .We'll review the limitation once you respond with the information we've requested.

Thank you for helping to resolve this problem.

Yours sincerely,
Dear PayPal Customer,

As a security measure, we regularly screen PayPal activity. Recently, we noticed a problem with your account.

We determined that someone may have tried to access your PayPal account without your permission. For your protection, we have limited your account access. To lift this limitation, click here:

https://www.paypal.com/uk/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=login_actp

Reference Number:

PayPal Account Review Department

Is this something I should be worried about? No one has accessed my account and nothing strange had been going on either.

Not sure if I should reply to this or not .. ?????

I have e-mails similar to this from banks I never had an account with so not sure if that is something similar or to take this serious?

This a Phishing scam for sure "service@paypal.security.co.uk" if you notice PayPal's real domains are "@PayPal.com" phishing ones are a lot different.

Thanks to you both. I did suspect it was phishing scam but then suddenly I was unsure and thought I rather ask someone else.

grannyT .. no, good thing I did nothing about it - instead came on here to ask about it.

Yeah, well spotted, GT was on it so fast after her recent experience with these fisherman!

Time to consider averting street crime?

I will get the costumes....

I also had an email from paypal this morning, it read -

Please provide further information

Dear xxxxxxx,

We need to confirm some of your account information or collect further
information. Please complete this by xx/09/2011. If you don't do so in
time, PayPal is required by EU regulations to limit access to your account

It said next time I log in I will be guided through the info they need, ive logged in several times today and nothing???

'Dear xxxxxxx' - was that the name Paypal usually use when they email you? And did you check the address bar?

Then deal with it through logging into your Paypal account - not your email service
