Default Strange E-mail from a Buyer

I have just received this e-mail from a buyer which confused me a bit;

###,

ebay has just informed me that I bought this on a US site.
As a consequence I'm now growing concerned about there being a delay in you shipping this. ###
Can you please confirm when you will definitely ship this item.
If you are in the US can I please have a refund.

I obviously am on a UK site so why would eBay tell him, he bought the item
on a US site?

This must be new.

Your buyer must have purchased your item within the ".com" site, even if you listed it on the "co.uk" one.

I dont see the problem either. Just ship it and show him otherwise. Then he will be happy.

Did you explain to him that it was just the fact he was on the dotcom ebay site when he bid and it has nothing to do with you?

Where ebay buyers are concerned I always think of them like the idiots on the direct line adds. or whatever insurance comp it is.

Explain everything to them just in case and assume they are not intelligent enough to work it out themselves.

Let me tell you a tale of 2 accounts.

First account: 13 year old, thousands of 100% + feedback, all 4.9-5 DSRs, TRS. Offers free shipping, ships within 3 business days.
2nd account: 2 month old, 10 + FB, all 5 DSRs, also free shipping with next business day turnaround and $5 cheaper.

1 buyer. Buys from both accounts, identical NIB item. 2nd account ships the same day, updates tracking immediately. Emails sent from USPS, PP, and eB. 1st account shipped on the 3rd day, updates tracking. Both packages show same return address. Both payments went into the same PP account.

2nd account gets 3 emails, why is tracking not showing, why can't I track it on eB, I really need this yesterday. 1st account didn't hear a peep.

1st account gets + fb the same day item arrives. 2nd account, still waiting.

Moral of the story, YOU ARE THE NOOB NOW. Expect to be treated like one. Biting the hand the feeds you is just bad business practice.

But did they even realize they were buying off the same buyer?

It sounds like they didn't

That sounds too much like the ebay mindset that the buyer is always right, even though they know it is wrong, as when dealing with their customers, the sellers, they basically say no, no, no, you are never right.

The problem in this case the buyer has the hump and there is no guarantee they will look at the shipping stamp or even understand it, there is always a chance they will but if you can't guarantee it then you have to assume they will not and try and explain it to them before they do any damage.
