Default Can I change my IP if I have a static IP address?

I have a fantastic service from my ISP, but they cant switch me over to a dynamic IP for whatever reasons. The dongle that I use on my stealth accounts is really really frustrating, barely and signal and the area I live in is not great for mobile phone operators either.

As above, is there anyway to change my IP when I am on a Static IP address?

I would really hate to switch from my ISP as it is superfast with unlimited download capacity, the best I have had yet.

with some you can change it yours self in the user control panel of the router.

If you have Static IP, the only way to change it is to call up your ISP

For most of the times towards home consumers, YES it is. The modems given by ISPs these days identifies who you are, and your ISP will automatically assigns the designated IP upon connecting the modem to their servers.

For people who have the knowledge (TizWoz) it's not a problem. For a dumb blonde like me it would be a nightmare. My advise? Switch to BT if you can or use dial up when you need to go on Ebay or Paypal. I know B/Band can be sketchy in Ireland but there are work arounds. Think about Auctiva and dial up. It will get you where you need to be

Cheers guys.

My ISP is with Xilo and I have a TP-Link ROUTER, which I bought myself, not from my ISP.

Yeah Im getting by with my dongle, but its bloody slow. Just thought I would ask if there was away to change a static into a dynamic, then that would be problem solved.

I had BT before and they where crap where I live, their download limits and speed was just useless. It took me a while to get a good ISP and I dont want to give that up if I can help it.

you can not have dynamic ip at all with them, however you can have a block of static i.p's 4, 8, 16, 32, just call em.

If you can't work out how to change the Mac address then try a different router and see if that changes it.

Just look round for a cheap second hand one or use a friends and see if it changes the IP

ip.static.uno.uk.net

I switched routers and still the same IP. Does changing the mac address work, will that change my ip?

No it will not. MAC address change only works with dynamic IP. Some ISPs provides static IP by asking you to register the MAC address of your router/computer. If this is the case with your ISP, changing your MAC to something different will left you with no internet access at all.

As I have previously stated, contact your ISP for more info.

Right your still on the old one, if you change to

ip.static.uno.net.uk

you will get a new i.p but it is a one time change.

if you want more i.p's you need to contact your provider for a block of static i.p's which they give you in blocks, 4 8 16 32 and so on.

YOU cannot change to dynamic at all unless you change provider!!

hope that helps.
