Hi,
I sold a item yesterday and checked my account today and the buyer who bought the item had left me a messaging asking the item to be sent to a relatives address
There is also a note saying this attached to the payment with the other address.
Just wondering will i be safe sending it to the other address as its not in there paypal but is in a note attached to the payment
Any advice, Thanks
The complete step-by-step guide to get back to selling today!
If you want to be safe and covered by p/p seller protection then refund the payment and ask them to resubmit it with the correct address they want it delivered to.
Obviously send them a message regarding this before you do anything.

you are not covered by seller protection, with the address just on a message - then again it is probably ok in terms of they are not trying to hide address by emailing you privately etc, probably not a scammer move...depends on how much the value is, for low value I would probably send, for higher I would do as noneother said, refund, explain that it needs resubmitting with postal address added properly as gift address.
Which country did he want you to send to? Same country? I will only send item if the buyer address and the relative address are living in the same country
if it was a scammer then they would not attach it to the invoice
but there are dumb scammers too so if you feel like it is too big a risk then just mention you wont be covered and want to send to the registered address
they probably would be okay with it although it will be a slight inconvenience,a decent buyer would completely understand
From personal experience, you need to feel your customer out. If they want you to ship to a different country, thats a huge red flag. If they want you to ship to a different address, but is in the same state or city, than probably not a huge deal as people dont know how to change or are too lazy to change information. I have done this countless times and have had zero issues.
Could also be a Fellow Stealther that simply wants to buy your product but has NO access to his registered Paypal/ebay address,,,Could also be a gift,,,,for a 100 feedback account,,and that amount of money plus the buyers approach as OOMPA Mentioned above,,I DOUBT it is a Scammer,,

I messaged the buyer anyway and was proper nice about it and so i took the risk and sent it to his relatives address with no problem at all.
I wouldnt risk it again though,3 times this week ive had people message saying i havent recieved my item ,When ive gone to check the tracking all were signed for over a week ago,If that would of been at a relatives address i would have no seller protection.
There are loads of nice genuine buyers but theres a lot of scaveners trying to get free and discount items everyday
It seemed like a year ago I got more buyers that asked me to send an item to another addy. I never really thought about it and just did it. I don't think it was anything too expensive though. Best of luck. I'm sure it's not a big deal.

I would never ship anything this way, I don't care if it's high or low value items. I mean, come on, we already pay sky high ebay and paypal fees. I just don't like to lose any of my products to anyone and also pay ebay/paypal fees.
I did this for some laptop memory pieces that sold for $8 last month. I refunded the money and asked the buyer to input his address or I would cancel the transaction. One buyer gave me a negative feedback. I talked to a ebay rep and they took it off cuz I was not protected. I quickly relist the item and sold for a little more. haha, jokes on him (buyer).
