| | | mirus | 07-17-2012 02:39 PM | what are the best UK banks? What are the best UK bank, vba and vcc to utilise for stealth ebay and Paypal accounts? |
| they_screwed_me_too | 07-17-2012 02:43 PM | i find halifax,coop and natwest are rock solid
stay away from lloyds
as far as im aware there are no uk vba to use on pp
entropay is good or if your unsure get a card from one of the uk sellers on here that will work fine |
| GrannyT | 07-17-2012 02:46 PM | I second everything tsms has said. Sadly forget VBAs for the UK at the current time. My preference for a card would be from a seller on here. Entropay are starting to be a little bit problematical for SOME people
:ranger: |
| mirus | 07-17-2012 02:53 PM | Ok is a vcc needed as much as a bank account? |

| john131171 | 01-14-2013 08:16 PM | I have just today gone to RBS as i already had a standard basic account (current with debit card, no o/d) and asked if I could open another account easily as i wanted to separate different saving streans to be told no problem - how many did i want and they would even put a 2nd description line on the card ie mr xx xxxxxxx, number two account
I asked for 4 and she is putting the forms already completed for me in the post - all i have to do is sign and put the description i want on each card - easy as !
Hope that helps |
| Baniak2000gt | 01-18-2013 05:30 PM | What about Barclays account ? |
| scotthenry86 | 01-18-2013 06:27 PM | i have been using a barclays basic account for some time now

Been mentioned before that you need to be seen to use them as 'normal' accounts.
If all they do is receive funds from p/p in a mismatched name then the bank will start to take a closer look at all your accounts. They have a legal obligation to monitor all customer accounts for unusual activity that may indicate money laundering. |
| johnnyleeds | 01-20-2013 05:02 PM | Another good one to use, which a lot of people forget about is Bank of Scotland, which is actually Halifax - (HBOS - Halifax Bank of Scotland). I have opened several basic accounts with them and you can do it online.
Plus if you already bank with the Halifax you can just add your new Bank of Scotland accounts straight onto your Halifax online banking service - same password etc as your existing Halifax account! Plus you can do any other banking you need to do at any Halifax branch. Top tip if I do say so myself! |
| johnnyleeds | 01-20-2013 05:03 PM | P.S - you DONT have to be Scottish to open a Bank of Scotland account... |
| NoneOther | 01-20-2013 05:07 PM | Aye, but it helps :thumb: |
| johnnyleeds | 01-20-2013 05:15 PM | what helps? if your called Jock?! heh heh heh! |
| NoneOther | 01-20-2013 05:19 PM | Just wait until Independence Day, then you won't get one so easy :p |
| Ukdirect | 01-20-2013 06:11 PM | I'm using Co-op saver accounts with my stealths. You can open them online and they normally only take 10 days to open |

Don't just go opening a ****load of bank accounts and thinking it'll be OK. Some poeple get away with it, some don't. The best advice I've seen given here is: open bank accounts when you actually need them. |
| Stigger | 01-21-2013 03:09 AM | as above, opening and closing accounts with the same bank all the is not good try not to stick to the same banks all the time.
It helps if you try and understand, what banks check what when you apply
also it helps to try and understand the process, for example it helps to know which banks check first and last names (Lloyd's) which banks check only last names (santander) and which banks only check account number and sort code (no names) when money is been transfered. |
| Callidus | 01-23-2013 04:42 AM | I wouldn't make a habit of always applying for current accounts as don't forget these type of accounts are the ones that do the credit check. Try searching for an account that only do a basic ID search or look at some type of savers.
123 account is good though :) |
| sanitystricken | 01-23-2013 09:32 PM | Quick question to all of those who recommended NatWest. Do their saver accounts work in the same way as their current/basic or should these be avoided? I've opened one purely as a saver anyway, but since it's given a new account number and sort code thought I would ask! Thanks in advance :thumb: |
| Jigsaw | 01-24-2013 12:17 AM | I have used lots of saver accounts from Natwest and never had any problems with verification or had any removed. |
| sweetie | 04-14-2013 04:04 PM | People have recommended Halifax and The Bank of Scotland on this thread but they are owned by Lloyds which is specifically not recommended. Just wondering what peoples thoughts are on this as I bank with The Bank of Scotland. |
good question
has anyone recently had issues with halifax or bank of scotland ? |
| GreenBean | 04-15-2013 04:54 AM | Never an issue because I stopped using both in early 2006.
They allowed paypal to 'touch' my funds despite having a written cancellation of the DD mandate at two different branches (two paypals at different banks were limited).
These days, I notice they tend to be lower on the list.
:spy: |
well if they are owned by Lloyds then best to steer clear |
| GreenBean | 04-15-2013 05:16 AM | Indeed.
As others ask, will be worthwhile mentioning not to use them.
:ranger: |
canne believe they still allowed pp to take money from your bank after you cancelled the DD mandate
shocking that |
