Phone verification

I set up a stealth ebay account this evening with a phone number I have paid for from soho. When I went to give ebay my phone number I had the option of ebay phoning me or texting me. Is this new? I thought you had to have a land line? It seems like I could have entered a mobile number instead. My soho number worked by the way and so has the entropay card... so far!

Mobile numbers (obviously unlinked to any other ebay/paypal accounts) are just as good these days as a land-line number.

However some people feel its better to have a land line added to give the account extra 'strength' in ebay/paypals eyes.

I use the texting service from eBay all the time. It works great!

More and more people are also opting to just have mobile number instead of landline - landline is slowly getting decapitated but still a must for businesses.

considering you can get SIM cards for free online (Orange/EE are the best) or for a quid, there's no reason not to use a mobile number

Orange is best in the sense that you can get 4 SIM cards at once, but O2 is best in terms of "functionality" since the SIM is ready to use as soon as you put it in your phone... Orange and other networks take some time to activate.
