Default Ebay diSputes last...??

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
disputes...not didputes :-)

Hi guys

Last week I sold an item and shipped it same day. Product was signed for, PayPal released the money, happy days.

Then on Tuesday the buyer claimed Item Not Received. I have responded with the tracking number etc and they have responded with inane crap about it wasn't them who signed for it blah, blah, blah. I re-sent the tracking number in response and since Wednesday I've not heard back.

The item was £270, and because PayPal put a hold on it it's sent me into the red. My fees are due soon so I just want it over with.

I don't see an option for me to escalate the matter so if he doesn't respond again what will happen? In what time-frame?

I know I should no better, but it seems a bit daft on PP's part because they released the funds upon receiving proof of delivery. So any attempt to raise a not received dispute should be blocked really.

Cheers

You normally can only esculate it 7-10 days after case was opened.

Does the tracking at least say that it was delivered by/in the the he lives in?
Because they do check that.

Yes. It shows as delivered and signed for at his address. So I can escalate at 7-10 days? Or he can?

Give paypal a ring.

They've closed cases for me on the phone in situations like this.

Hopefully you sent it via courier, and the actual address is visable when you track it as that'll make them close the dispute even quicker.

Thanks for this. I'll do that later. I know eBay own PayPal, but does it matter that it's an eBay dispute as opposed to a PayPal one? He raised the dispute via eBay.

And yes, I used royal mail 1st class recorded that requires a signature.

Why would you risk your account by phoning in?
YOU can escalate the case in 7-10 days from when it was open.

First thing you should do is ask them to ask friends and family if they signed for it and forgot to tell them and let them know you will be calling their local sorting office to try and talk to their postman and see if he can shed any light on who signed for it and suggest they do the same.

Phone their local sorting office and ask some questions about the package. You will more than likely get to speak to their postman if you phone at the right time and you will be surprised how much they remember, especially if your package is distinctive or their is something about the address.

How will this help to verify anything with PP or EB? It's only postman's memory/opinion. Doubtful he'll provide something in writing that PayPal would accept as gospel? If that is the case I'll get to wiring it now

At this moment you are either dealing with an idiot or a scammer and your aim is to hope it was an idiot, or a bad scammer that is just chancing their arm.

The number of times I have had the message back from both of these saying sorry someone took it in and did not tell me. People do not like the people they actually deal with, like postmen knowing they are scammers, and you are giving them an out. the fact you say you are going to phone their sorting office works better than asking them to, as most will say no why should I but you still give them the option as they may be telling the truth and some one may have just signed for it and thrown it in a cupboard as they rushed out the door.

Personally I think with paypal and ebay it is a hit and miss thing even when it is clear cut so try and deal with the buyer yourself if possible.
