Im sure it can be removed but it should be stated on the listing that you dont deliver to certain locations to avoid these situations

Means nothing, you still have to put this in your listing, how is the buyer to know that they don't go to the highlands? Guess?

yes well just for this one time you could have saved yourself the negative and shipped it royal mail no matter how much you don't like them.

Heck parcel2go.com does good rates on TNT, citylink, DHL etc..

I would rather pay an extra £1 then deal with a pissed off buyer and a rating i doubt you will get rid of lol..

If I was you I would offer to send it to him and give him a refund if he removes the negative, but you should have just sent it, then updated the listing.

You do need to try to avoid getting yourself into these situations Steve.

Customer is always right on eBay even if they are wrong. They hold the power so you have to bend over for them

just go on chat and get it removed, simples, the chat agents are easy to talk to and you have a good chance to get it taken off if you explain your situation out

Im sorry to say Steve, but IMO your customer service is something you really have to work on. I mean- from what i have read- your customer service is nonexistent.

It may sound silly but, i think it would be very beneficial to you if you work for a month in a restaurant or a hotel. These are good places to learn customer service/experiance basics

Since when did buyers in THe Higlands have crystal balls?

HTFudge are they to know you choose a delivery source that does not go to their area?????

Remind me again how long you have been selling on ebay?

Man up and take the blame for being silly. Not the 1st time you have made a boo-boo. Try learning to not make them.

You will lose your accounts.

Are you kidding?

If he speaks to them in the manner he writes on here, they will laugh him off the phone

Even if you're nice and everything is fine they might start prodding around later on and find something they don't like, or someone else at eBay for that matter. When I got my negative removed I got suspended later on in the day, could be a coincidence, could not.. who knows.

Negatives used to annoy me a lot, and still do, but they're actually not that important. If your feedback is higher than 98% eBay don't seem to care. You can be Top-Rated Seller with 98% feedback, it's all about DSR's now. Feedback is just a small part of it all.

I find it impossible to not get negatives every few months as people just leave them without contacting you and then don't reply. Something lost in the post can give you a negative or just someone who clearly isn't stable will give you issues.

On eBay I have never had a negative from someone who has messaged me first, on Amazon I have had one, but that was from someone with intent to harass me and other sellers by leaving them for more than one seller and claiming items lost in the post. I buy 5-10 items on eBay a day and some peoples customer service is non existent and they take days to reply to messages or not at all. I wouldn't give them a negative though, not unless they insulted me or tried to scam me.

Sure there must be books or help pages on customer services out there, or maybe some one should write one, as Steve seems to be struggling with the basics of taking responsibility for your own mistakes.

It is your job to know about the postage not the buyers and you should have sucked it up, even though the buyer would most likely know they are in one of those area's that cost more, it is not their job to think about such things.

But now you put it down to experience and add a little more to your terms of sale and thank them for the lesson.

@steve, tough to get the feedback removed - customer was not happy and he showed his sentiments. Avoid repetition moving on
