Hi wanting a little advice please.
If a buyer decides he wishes to return for full refund whats the best way to go about this without it affecting ratings etc?
Should i refund in paypal as per the invoice already generated or should i refund as a friend with his email address? Does this make any difference?
Just wanted some good advice as to the best way to do this if atall it makes a difference to the account?
Thanks in advance
Moxy

Always use the refund button on the transaction , if you send money as a friend or family they can than open a case and still get the funds back from the actual transaction If they wanted to scam you

Sorry if I wasn't clear - sending as friend in pp is not the wise move.
You need to do it through ebay resolution centre to be absolutely sure you wont get a defect. choose the reason as the buyer asked to cancel or there is an issue with their address.
Doing it straight through paypal has resulted in defects in the past. I imagine its still the case now.
so what your saying is if a buyer wants a refund and im happy to let them keep the item, ask them to cancel the transaction and then refund them in pp? This way a defect wont count against me?
You open up ebay. Go to resolution centre. Find the transaction. Click the issue refund button with the reason I gave earlier (theres only 2 reasons to choose from)

Job done.
You dont do anything with paypal.
I've just tried to do this with an item that the buyer has returned and I get this message:
Sorry, it's too late to cancel your order
Does this mean the buyer can't open a case against me?
More importantly How can i refund his payment without me getting a defect?
With US accounts, if a case is not opened and a buyer wants a refund, I just go into paypal and click issue refund, I have not ever received any defect refunding this way.
Again this is with all US Accounts, not sure if it's different with UK

Whenever a request is open for either didn't receive the item or item was counterfeit it will affect your rating straight way.
If it's didn't receive the item then best thing to do is, kill few days and resend the item with tracking number so later you can provide to eBay rep and it won't affect your rating.
Even if buyer give u a neg FB eBay will remove that.

I dont think you will receive any refund of final value fee ebay already charged you if you refund like this without going through proper ebay channel.
