Buying with unverified paypal

Hello, I have a paypal account with around £400 in which is unverified and I know that most online site wont accept your paypal unless your verified, but I read that you can buy things via ebay with a unverified paypal account. Is this true? I dont want to try it, for my funds to be held. Anyone ever done this?

It's not so much that you will have problems with the funds being held for buying, its more to do with the seller.

A lot of sellers wont ship to an unverified PayPal / unconfirmed address.
