Default Sales quantity enquiry

If a user bought more than 1 quantity of the same item from me in a single transaction e.g x 10 phone covers, does ebay count this towards 10 sales or just 1 sale?

Counts as 1 sale but 10 items and will take that off your selling limits.

They can only leave 1 feedback for it though.

One sale but 10 items. The 10 goes to your item count.

Which means only one item when it comes to your defects list. Sadly.

Thanks guys.. Lets look at it this way.

Assuming that I need to make 20 more sales to raise my account from below standard to standard level. Will the x20 items bought in 1 transaction be enough to get me back to standard level?

No it won't be enough. This will count as 1 transaction, and you will need 19 more.

The quantity is irrelevant.

I was told it is not about 1 transaction. It is the about the sales.

One buyer buys 10 items from you.

So it would be counted 10 sales rather than 1 transaction.

That's what I have been told from eBay.

Who knows.

I tested it 6 months ago and it was as I mentioned in my previous post. Maybe it has changed since then.

Yes, as I said, it classes as one sale for the defects rate.

Do you really think eBay would be stupid enough to not have this base covered? It would be so easy for sellers to get themselves out of the defect s**t list by listing items for a pound and having their mates buy 40 of them in group of ten.

Come on people, wakey wakey

Anyone know if it is an acceptable policy to restrict the quantities of a product I will sell to one person per transaction? Maybe if I put in my description that I would not sell more than 2 quantities to anyone person per transaction?

I'm sure that's fine to do but it's not the best strategy. You will turn away people wanting to buy more than 2 items. Therefore the conversion rate will decline, as will your listing in the search results.
