Anyone notice that DHL Heathrow looks like they are having a customs operation happening at the moment.
Four packages this week, three from Shanghai, one from HK,
HK - Heathrow - clearance event
Shanghai - Midlands - Cleared
Shanghai - Midlands - Cleared
Shanghai - Heathrow - Clearance Event
Its not at issue so much as its just generic stuff, more the time waiting for them to clear it.
Anyone else having problems?

If you check your shipment at DHL website - you may see the reason for clearance event.
Sometimes customs stop packages and ask for a proof of the value - like PP payment, etc.

Yes I know the red tick box, thats not the issue, its just 'pending customs inspection'. Normally they go straight through.
It just seems like DHL Heathrow as a customs operation on that the moment, hence why packages that come through East Midland go through fine, but all mine at Heathrow are being checked. As I said, its not particularly a problem, just the time they bloody take about it..just wondering if anyone else is having similar?

I used to have this ''pending customs inspection ''
Customs opened the package. After that was ok - was sent further for delivery.

Clearance delay is when they have customs delays.
Clearence event is something you need to phone about.
I had one last week and called and all they said was that i owed more customs on a parcel that i recieved before they charged me.
It can also be they want supplier invoices.
Clearence event will hold your parcel until you call to find out why or how to get it released.

I use TrackChecker as a prog for parcels.
And when I get ''Clearance delay'' in the prog - it's always not a good sign
It means that package was stopped.
Clearence event - when they receive info, answers from you, invoices.
Then it changes to clearance event.

Thinks are different in Finland it seems.
Clearance Event dosent require anything and is merely in the que for a manual inspection. After that they may require info, but it changes status to Contact DHL.

Clearance delay and clearance event are different things.

I dunno about you guys but I dont use DHL as much as I have few of my parcels seized even though the items were generic. I use EMS, which later on transfer into your countries' postal service, which in my case is Canada Post. And I rarely pay taxes on shipments whereas with Express companies you always pay them.

Clearance Event changed to Cleared now
'Shipment has been given a release by Customs.'
No phone call, no charges. It just means manual inspection, which of course can mean extra charges, but thankfully not in this case.

They know they can charge every parcel and most customers wont contest it, so they essentially make an extra dollar per parcel.
Ive found DHL to be the best, and quickest for the UK, never had any problems before.

A lot of Chinamen use 'shippers' to transport the package to DHL, these shippers get discounts with the big firms, therefore the product people can get reduced rates by going through them instead of through DHL direct.
Although it can mean it hasnt been collected, It can also mean the parcel is with the 'middle man' shipper or in the que at DHL to be processed. I used to think that and got stroppy a few times, but learned about it how it works. Hong Kong DHL always has ques because they get all the orders from the Ali sites.
