It is not Ebay,it is PAYPAL which does the credit check.
When you want to use Paypal to make large payment,you call Paypal and they will do a credit check on you plus review your past activities.
It has also known t o do credit check and other checking for business accounts,those who default on their own merchant account deficits,it is well known before a business fails ,it will order large quantity of goods from suppliers on credit and not pay them,if there are chargebacks with their merchant account,they just emptied or closed their bank accounts and the banks which provide the merchant account end up holding the bag.
Then they come to Ebay to liquidate their free inventory using Paypal to accept payments,Paypal will tap into a data base of merchants who have defaulted on their past accounts.
I recall when I SIGN Up with Paypal ,I agree to allow Paypal to do a credit report if it wishes,for most individual sellers it wont bother.
It was in their terms and agreement then,

Ebay has a giant merchant account with Ayden,we are all sub accounts under Ebay ,so Ebay needs to check if our credit is any good.

I can believe it, but surely there must be more to it.

If an ebay user has a "thin credit file" are ebjust gonna say no and deny the conversion to mp? What about young ebayers or people who have immigrated from abroad like studsents. All of those people will not have a credit file. Surely they cannot just say no to what is potentially a lot of revenue. Hopefully there must be more to it than just a poor credit rating. I am sure there are many ebayers who have a poor credit score - will they also be denied because they are too high a risk?

I wish I had more time to experiment with accounts and documents to find out what works and doesn't but I seem to have less and less free time these days.

I hope we find the answer soon.

Waaaay to much guesswork and misinformation on this forum - which is understandable giving the kind of people it attracts and its purpose.

What we do know is that if ebay were doing credit checks on decent folk and then refusing to convert them to MP, effectively closing down their account, then the main forums and the media would be awash with tales of anger and business collapse - it isn't!


Here's my guess, sorry if anyone is offended - there is no need for them to do credit checks on most stealthers because their account creation methods are so poor they stand out like a sore finger as dodgy.

Not that I know of. They caa check the check digits only.

eBay (UK) run credit checks. They have done this for years.
All our (non-stealth) accounts were subject to credit checks over the years. Recent registrations are no different.

Transunion seems to be their preferred choice at the moment.


PayPal run checks, especially when you withdraw. I believe these are ML checks.

They do but it does it not call identity check since you not applied for any credit from ebay!!!

Paypal does money money laundering quite often depends how you use your account

From my personal experience I do not believe it is the credit check causing the issue - I don't think it is anything to do with the name associated with the address.

I think it is to do with the ID and some sort of check they are running on this to determine it is ⊗⊗⊗⊗.

Its 100% ID they can see its real or not use a real id and you ok.If someone can show me a **** ID passed since September activated not loaded up then do say but im sure none have been activated.

The thing is that is there anyone who is able to switch over mp with real name and dob but creative ID photo?

They’re not shady they’re simply things that are not allowed to be talked about on the forum it’s really that simple

There are lots of people guessing that it’s the credit check without actually really having done a lot of trial and error into it. It’s the easiest explanation but that doesn’t mean it’s the correct explanation

But clearly you know better so I will leave you to it. There seems to be a lot of people with a massive attitude problem about at the moment and it really does put people off posting
