People move house all the time. Surely that would be a problem for them verifying address identification.
Example - my wife chucks me out tomorrow and I open up an account at new address, but i move back in a few weeks/months. Or am I missing something? |

I personally know several people who opened stealth accounts with some well known companies , they all were shut down at some point. I happen to have accounts with some of the same companies as well but in my real name and they never asked me to send in any ID and I have been using them for a long time. so they must have a way to check who I am? |

I can go on vacations tomorrow to an apartment in renting and once there open an online bank account on a major bank. It asks to upload your ID card, make a "video-selfie" for ID verification. But for the adress you can put the one of the "holiday rented apartment" to receive the credit card associated. No way the adress must match ...
What do you want to say is that eBay won't ask you to upload your ID card/ driver license if ID and ALSO adress matches?. Because I guess that it is more like PayPal, when you reach a certain amount of money they request uploading the ID doc like any bank would do (But banks do it from the 1st minute) |

I know that such checks exist , for example I have not been to any bank branch for many years , I don't even remember when I was in a bank branch the last time , nevertheless I easily open accounts with various banks online incl. those where I have never had an account before and they do not ask for any docs at all and those are not some small pseudo middlesmen but major banking corporations |

once USPS misplaced my mail,it is an offer from my cc issuer with 2 drafts for me to spend ,total $900.
Someone used one of them to pay his Capital One credit card,my cc issuer called me to verify,I said it aint me,then they said we know,as you dont do business with Capital One,we will just cancel it and the next one as well when it shows up !
Then there are some who get calls from their cc issuer, someone charged his card in Cancun ,Mexico, how is it possible when he just charged for his Starbuck coffee 2 hours ago in NYC?
Yahoo shopping also have software which spots someone who makes rapid purchase across the venue, buying from different shops for items which can quickly turned into cash.
In Tex,landlords can tap into a database which shows deadbeats who moved out without paying rent.
I think TGT also uses facial recognition software like those Las Vegas casinos, just a guess |

I'm not sure what checks are done but the address is definitely not checked. |

yes , they do check the address , if you state an address not present in your credit history you will not be verified | |

I have more experience now and can comment.
1. Address does matter. They have 'some' sort of check. I believe this would be the like a credit rating agency. So, if you use an address that is logged under your name, then all is OK. They don't even bother asking for ID or address proof docs.
2. If you use a new address, then they ask you to submit a photo ID.
As mentioned above, one could move to a new address and give this as the address for using with ebay. The problems you will have for opening a new bank account will be the same for ebay (I guess) - where they will make sure all is OK.
You can have a fully verified address with photo ID and still be banned from ebay for 'unknown' and unspecified reasons. |
