Default Success, at last!

Current situation, I have two limited accounts, both past 180 days and wont let me withdraw (asking for docs etc) kinda gave up hope on them until today, decided to phone paypal and chance my luck.

Spoke to a decent enough guy who let me withdraw the funds to my account without asking very little questions, should be in the bank for tomorrow he said!

One account has £315 (withdrawn now) and the other £220, will phone back later for this account.

Will update if successful on the other account

Well that's good.

As others have said, it largely depends on the person you're talking to on the other end. At least PayPal gives it's employees enough power to make decisions like this on their own.

Had a message asking what steps I took, so here goes..

1. Phoned up and requested call back rather than waiting 15 mins.

2. Went through a few security questions, the only thing I had was my address and phone number.

3. Then I explained my account has been limited for over 180 days and still unable to withdraw funds.

4.The rep asked the last 4 digits of my bank card attached to the account, stuck me on hold for a few minutes then came back to say "Can you try withdrawing now please"

5. Money withdrawn, hopefully in my account for tomorrow!

Would definitely advise people to write it down rather than save it on a computer, made that mistake before with a previous account and my old PC broke!

You could keep all the important info on a cloud storage.

Congratulations on the withdrawal, they let you normally withdraw after 180 days anyway.

Tried again today, no luck once again. "I see you spoke to my colleague about providing proof of identity"

Has anyone had any sort of luck providing f@ke docs? assuming that could maybe do more damage to the account if they get refused?

I had a paypal uk account permanently limited after id failed several times and was told funds would be held for 180 days. That was almost 18 months ago and repeated attempts at emailing brought the usual request for more id. Then last week I went into account and sent an official complaint to paypal, selecting reason for complaint 'poor customer service'. Briefly explained problem, that they were still withholding my money after 18 months and if not released within 14 days I would be taking legal action to recover my money plus all costs incurred in doing so.

Quite honestly I never expected a reply, but a few days later received email saying my money was available for withdrawal....however, before I could withdraw paypal uk sent me yet another email requesting ID.

So I replied to original reply received regarding my official complaint, which clearly stated my money could be withdrawn as paypal had 'no reason to hold it any longer'. I explained I had no id and again reiterated I would be taking legal action to recover my funds plus expenses. This time the money was made available to withdraw and was in my bank within 24 hours. The amount was not great, less than £200 but at least I did get it back eventually

I believe this complaint was dealt with and withdrawal authorised by paypal USA despite paypal UK doing their best to block access by constantly requesting ID they knew I could not provide.

Its quite unbelievable how much work they will put in to try and steal £200.

Just the bank account that was already attached to the account.

Update, 3rd time calling in today, still asking for docs before they can release the funds.

Have tried James Brown's method of complaining about customer service, still awaiting response from Paypal.

Not looking good!

Go into paypal account.
Select: Contact Us, then click Email Us.
Select: Feedback and formal complaints.
Tell us more.

Here I selected 'Poor customer service received'.
Then fill out the form.
Enter case ID number from when they said money would be held for 180 days.

Briefly explain situation and tell them how you want the matter put right. I told them I wanted my money back within 14 days otherwise I would take legal action to recover my money plus all costs incurred in doing so. I said I couldn't provide any ID but obviously what you say is your choice.

Apparently it can take several weeks to get a reply, maybe I was just lucky because I had my money back within a week.

As I said, this was a last ditch attempt on my part as ID had been refused multiple times.
Good luck.

Is there a number for them? I only seem to get connected to Irish reps.
