What bank in the uk does paypal use?

Hiya

Just a little theory I had, if you bank with natwest and your friend does, then a transfer is instant. Then of course we now have the fp (fast pay) network for bank transfers which a select amount of uk banks are subscribed to.

What I am pondering is if paypal use for example, hsbc here in the uk and you bank with hsbc then in theory you should recieve your withdrawals a lot faster, probably as soon as you get the "complete" status.

So can anyone shed any light on who in the uk paypal use for there banking facilities, what bank does or withdrawals come from exactly?

A good point you have raised but i feel paypal would rather configure their bank and payment system to be non-instant irrespective of FP. Their excuse would 'fraud prevention'

This is true but this phase of fraud prevention is the time it takes from the status of

"pending"

to

"complete"

Once we have the complete status it has now left paypal and a wire transfer instructed. If at this point you have the same bank it would hit quicker, we have many examples of some people getting there funds faster from the complete point then others.

I don't know but I have noticed with barclays payments tend to be a lot faster than the other banks I have tried.

PayPal uses Barclays Corporate as their bank in the UK but you can't walk in their and pay direct to the account you still have to use a domestic payment via your bank but it would explain why Barclays clears quicker

Yeah that figures, the only bank in the UK that will accept bad debtors as clients. lol

No truth is I've not been on this forum in 6+ months and just happened to pop on before and see this thread. Can't believe how fast 4 yrs can fly by!
