Default paypal & amazon advising buyers to contact action fraud (uk actionfraud)

Recently I had a problem with a seller I bought items from and paypal told me they will NOT refund me until I contact actionfraud and file a police report with them. they then told me to attach the police report on the paypal dispute resolution case. The case was about a someone who conned me by selling me counterfeit products which I paid for by paypal.

Also amazon have also been telling buyers to contact actionfraud, one of my buyers claimed that my items were made in china and therfore according to to them the item is phake. The buyer told me that amazon advised them to contact actionfraud and file a report....

is this something new? because this is over the top. I guess it is to verify that the buyers claims are true...if they were true then they wouldnt be scared of filing a police report...i think thats the angle amazon and paypal are coming from. or maybe it is just something new PP & Amazon started to scare off the worst sellers who are selling illegal stuff

anyone else come across this?

Below is the site

Great idea if it weeds out the sellers of phakes AND the buyers who try phony claims.

Should be done more.

If the trading is legitimate, then there is nothing to fear.

Stand has to be taken especially when BUYERS are falsely doing damage to the business of sellers.

I added the URL of the site on your post, roberto. Let others see more info.

This is the message I got from paypal:

Quote:
To help us to continue with our investigation, please file a fraud report
with Action Fraud at www.actionfraud.police.uk or phone Action Fraud at
0300 123 2040.

Action Fraud will then send you an letter with a police crime reference
number for your report. Once you’ve received this, please upload/fax a copy
of it to us.

OK then.

In the ebay/paypal UK section, the user curtainsplitter actually got his paypal limited despite attaching a police report. ( Was later reversed).

But paypal must take a stand to stop scamming.
Amazon will do the same.

In the long term, honest sellers will be OK

Interesting Concept, I can see this being beneficial in the long run,,,

So where exactly did Paypal add this new requirement?,,,,

Durring the First Part of the dispute Process where both Buyer and seller are encouraged to "Work it out",,,or the escalated part where Paypal forces the Buyer to send the item back to the seller providing Paypal with the tracking information and on the arival of the item back to the seller Paypal refunds the money?,,,

Or is this something else they now do if the Buyer cannot return the item for some reason?,,,which would normally cause the buyer to lose the dispute,,,

I do Not think you understood my question,,I asked when (At what Point) does Paypal instruct or require you to file a Fraud Report, do they do it Immediatly or do they still allow you some time to work out a Solution with the Seller

Also want to confirm if there is time to work out a solution with the seller.

Still an interesting concept by pp to make sure that people are serious with the claim and not trying to be frivolous with providing info...

I See, So Paypal Never told you to return the Item to the seller and Provide Them (Paypal) and the Seller with a Tracking Number, Is that also Correct?

Well I agree, if it scares away the counterfeited and scam buyers, then I dont mind this extra work of having to report a person to actionfraud and get a police report in order to get a refund

Right now it seems still in its early phase this actionfraud site - I dont think it deters the buyers but perhaps as it evolves...

Started 5 years ago.

Both actionfraud and FACT have had a lot more activity over the past months.

Expect to see much more too.

from my experience what deters scam buyers more than anything is them being found out doing scams. Then they dont know what the person they are scamming is gonna do and they disappear

Its no wonder we never see any police on the streets... Their all in doors sorting out paypal claims!

What if the items only valued at £10? We have to get a police report, which will cost the tax payer xxx amounts of money. This is a company that expects the UK police to do a load of work for them, when in return they only pay £1.2 million in tax out of the 800 million profit they make.

am assuming you sell phakes and you would rather actionfraud not take action against fraudsters?
