I posted this in another thread. I had a conversation with an MP rep. I was told that the 15th was simply a date they picked to get people who are required to register to do so. If you are required, your account will not be able to list new items once your activation date occurs. This is supposed to be later in July. I got my activation date recently. If you were not sent an e-mail requiring you to register then it doesn't affect you.

i got the message that i had to register by the 15th and got multiple warning/reminders that i had to do it for else my ability to list new items would be effected
the date has passed and i am still able to list on 2/2 of my accounts that got the message to register. so far it hasn't effected my ability to list new items. today on the 16th.

As I said, the 15th was selected as a date to get people to sign up and not the cut off date for listing. Sometime after the 15th your account will no longer be able to list new items. That date will be whenever they slot you're account to go active with MP. Once it's supposed to go active, if you have not signed up, then new listings will not be possible until you complete registration. This is what I was told by the MP rep. If that is correct, you have a few days to a couple of weeks before your account will be prevented from listing new items.

Lets see if everybody is able to list new items once the end of July rolls by. Once they actually activate the registered accounts those who did not register will lose that ability to list. They pretty much announced it that way.

That is exactly what I was told. I realize reps are not always forth coming or correct, but I suspect that this is what will happen. I can understand why a lot of people are trying to avoid signing up stealth accounts, but if they are requiring you to do so, you're going to have to.
Its not that easy for ebay to block the accounts for those who not signed up for MP they will push the date forward they trying to get many seller moved into this but its impossible for them to move all they activate om 3rd aug lets see what going to happen

I don't see any reason that they won't be able to do this. I suppose we'll find out over the next few weeks as they start activating MP accounts. I already received my activation date.
I have 2 st account and listed on the 15th one account has 300 the other has 190 everything is fine I never got the invite and will not sing up until I'm forced to
Error I get is Effective immediately, your ability to list new items has been interrupted. To
continue listing on eBay, please register now at
then it gives me a link to MP registration. Oh well, I knew I was going to have to register eventually.

It would appear that you are the first to post about running afoul of ebay's mandatory MP registration. As I mentioned in an above post, I was told by the MP reps that anyone who got the "invite" letter had to register. If they didn't, at some point after the 15th(whenever their account was scheduled to go active), their ability to list new items would be interrupted until they register. It sucks, but I don't think, as some on this forum, that ebay is going to walk back this change. I think a lot more people who were sent the invite letter and chose not to register are going to start encountering this "error" if they have not already.

Can you still increase and decrease the quantity of old listings?
My second account now cannot list either. Looks like they're doing these manually since it happened a day apart.
That is interesting. I got the impression from my talk with the MP rep that it might be manual, but the rep also said that they have only a small staff handling MP. If true, that might work to everyone's advantage. Small staff. not enough time to do a thorough vetting.
