Warning:NetSpend asks for SS number

So I applied for this card 8 days ago online. All the information they needed on their website is name and address. Stealth obviously.
Then today I received an email from them asking why didnt I register my card yet, if it arrived in the mail already.
Lovely. I never got the card. So I called them: The guy on the other side of the phone said that I need to give them my SS number and date of birth as I never supplied that information.
Of course not, as you never asked.-I replied.
Then he went on and on about new laws and regulations requiring SS numbers for prepaid cards, in that point I went

Just a warning,do not use NetSpend. It was for Amazon BTW.

netspend is legit an ask for legit info, if your scared then you need to go elsewhere. There are other ways to confirm your identity with them of course check the forums.

any reloadable debit card requires a SSN now thanks to anti-terrorism laws. There are no exceptions.

They also go through some lengths to verify that it is a real person. So you can not ⊗⊗⊗⊗ it
