Default Problems delivering to flats - advise needed.

I have had a few buyers lately with addresses based in flats, theres been some real issues with couriers not willing to leave in a safe place and needing to obtain a signature is proving difficult! One courier has attempted three times now and the item is now on its way back. I paid £7 to post this item and I dont think the buyer wanted it in the first place.

Where do I stand?
If they open up a case and ebay can see an attempted delivery was made three times then what? Does the seller lose buyer protection? is it different if the buyer outright refuses to accept the parcel?

I haven't received the item back yet but it means if ebay sides with the buyer (no doubt they will), i'm £7 down. This has happened three times now and i'm awaiting to see what happens on all three cases. Any suggestions?

Am I reading this correctly.

You accept a sale from a buyer who supplies correct address info and the courier company can not get their act together to achieve delivery?

What company?

Have you spoken to them?

If the item gets returned to you the best thing to do is issue a ful refund and move on, expaing to the buyer that the item had 3 attempted deliverys.

Attempted delivery means nothing, if they open a inr case they will win.

I suggest you refund the buyers before cases are opened or if the cases are already opened, before they esculate them to ebay

I'm reading this thread here and it seems attempted delivery IS enough?

If the item gets returned to me and she still wants it, she will have to pay another postage fee but if she wants a refund, it means i'm still £7 down.

This means theres nothing to stop buyers refusing delivery if they don't want the item and you being out of pocket postage wise :/

Sadly you will be a down an account if you don't take a loss on issues like this. Sometimes you need to take a loss in order to make money on other future sales.

If they open a case they will win, its as simple as that.

Accept the £7 loss and start to make it back.

Its all part of bussiness. £7 is nothing compeared to loses some people have when boing bussiness.

Agree with James, sadly sometimes the carriers are also to blame, never know if you have a lazy delivery man or not.

I while back I sold 5 of the same item to a customer at different day intervals, all shipped via UPS. Some how 3 were delivered with zero issues, and then some how 2 were not deliverable, lol. I was dumbfounded on how 3 could arrive easily and 2 required an Act of God!

Dont go using eBay community posts as necessarily "helpful" :(

Thought i'd update you all on this, the item was never delivered - at least not on the tracking. Ebay still found in my favour? Not sure how since the tracking didn't show delivery so maybe attempted was enough.
