Finally did it... Called in a for a limit increase and... SUCCESS! only got lifted to 8 more items and 750 bucks but hey still good...

First time ever calling in for an increase instead of waiting for a natural increase...

Congrats! However, I only agree with people calling in IF THEY ARE GOOD ON THE PHONE! Because some people are nervous or cannot think quickly and end up tripping themselves up. But if you have good phone skills and can think quickly, then there is nothing wrong with calling in. I have done it before, successfully.

Ghost of Amazon is really good at this, from what I understand. But that does not mean that EVERYBODY will have the same success rate that he has. Still, with a lower limit account, that is not risking all that much. I would suggest that if you are going to call in for a limit increase, you do it early in the life of the account. That way, you are risking less by doing so.

8 Item increase?

Never had them increase by an odd-number before. Always gotten increments of 5. Strange......

Still, 80% increase. Not bad at all.

Increases are always based on some percentage of your current limits, thus each subsequent one will result in greater and greater items and $$$ limits.

Can you "be your own boss" with a single, 18 item eBay account? Unless you're Gold, no. But it's a start. And next month the limit will be 50 or 75, and then 200, and so on and so forth.

All depending on metrics and feedback, and you staying away from phakes, VERO, etc, of course.

I called Tuesday. 280-$8500 turned to 1000-$19000

On older accounts having a reason and PROVEN track record makes all the difference.

I think I could have got more but I really only need 1000 for this account, so that's what I asked for. 18 month old account with 1000 feedback with 2 negatives and almost no cases or returns.

I was told that in 30 days I can call and get another 30% as long as service stays the same but doubt I will need or want it on this account.

After reading about Jeff Weicos account that was inexplicably shut-down after passing 5k per month in sales, I keep all my accounts below 3k per month.

Aside from that, keeping the sales relatively low keeps me from getting too attached/dependent on one or two accounts. Forces me to focus on several accounts, because I have a tendency to get lazy and rest on my laurels with one or two really good ones, but we all know where that road eventually leads.....

I got an increase Friday from 5/100 to 50/500. Originally, the automated system was going to give me 10, but I decided to speak with someone and got it up'd to 50.

500%. Not bad at all.

I've noticed that the lower STARTING limits, the faster you get higher than average limits. It's weird, but that's just been my experience.

Honestly calling in to increase limits isn't as bad as people make out, just have you stealth details up and be ready to answer the common questions, i.e. what are you selling how much where did you get your inventory etc.

Yes, it appears that people are starting to catch on, as two former critics of this method just stated in this thread they tried calling eBay with success.
