I want to make sure that the buyer accounts cant get linked to the seller accounts. Will this work with the verizon mobile card?
Sprint and Verizon just have the fastest data service. I don't want to get into a cell phone argument, but depending on where you live, Sprint could be faster, or Verizon could be faster. The plan with Verizon that is 40 a month is only for 40 megabytes. You'll eat that up in a manner of minutes, and they charge for every kb you go over. Do the unlimited plan, if it's still available. If you have a smart phone, you can use your phone as a modem too, and I don't think there is a limit with that. I use this on my blackberry with Sprint when I travel, and it works really well.

If you're trying to inflate feedback, I wouldn't recommend that at all. eBay does have a complicated logarithm to link accounts**, but you don't want to log in to one account, and then log into another the next minute; eBay will catch onto this. Feedback inflation doesn't really do anything. You'd be better off buying things you'll use anyway, like tape or printer cartridges, and get feedback from other sellers. Most buyers don't really look at sellers feedback anymore simply because eBay makes it seem like you're buying from eBay now instead of from real people.

**I've been doing business with eBay for a long time. Everything has just been ridiculous with them since 11/07. I strongly recommend to anyone just starting out with eBay to not get stuck in the loop of never-ending BS and just get out now. I honestly think 75% of the people on this thread are just bad businessmen, or are trying to commit some form of fraud. If you're really trying to make your living on eBay, just make sure you don't quit your day job. eBay will kick you off, PayPal will kick you off, everyone will screw your business into oblivion if you sell on eBay. I give mad props to anyone that can put up with this crap for more than two months. I'm done.

HateEbay, yes. You'll be lucky to be able to make an account, and extremely lucky if you can even buy using it.

The It company I use at my day job gave me a site called net switcher has anyone tried this?
He also set up a fancy redirect from my web browser that creates a different reverse look up. I enter an ip address and it brings up ebay's home page, then the reverse look up gives them another domain and ip (different from my ip) does anyone know about this?

Default VPN drops IP during session...

I connected my VPN before going to paypal for a new account setup, and made sure my IP had been updated to the VPN IP (IP Burger - What is my IP Address? Find Your IP Address!). I know the IP changed because I saw it refresh before I went to paypal. Once I was done with the setup, I checked my IP before disconnecting. It had changed back to the original IP.

My VPN never disconnected during the session, so how did my IP change back?

Is this a common occurance?

Does paypal log the login IP, or the logout IP? If logged at login, I should be safe.

Has anyone gotten suspended due to this?

Hi guys! This is my first post on this forum. I've read through the stealth guide(ebook), and read through this post. Anyway, It dosn't really come clear to me why proxies dosn't work.

I'm by know mean any proxy guru or anything like that, however I thought I did knew a little bit

Well I do understand if you do use commercial proxy tools, web proxies, or even using proxies which is published in a list on the web, you will most likely get caught.. The reason for this is opbviously because they will get blacklisted. Actually there are some services out there who searches the web for proxies and block them. Companies can buy these services, to indetify users using proxies. I'm not saying eBay is doing this, but maybe.

Anyways, before I go on. There are three types of proxies.

Transparent - Your real IP can easily be detected when using this
Anonymous - Your real IP will not be detected, however the header will be redirected.
Elite - Your IP will not be detected, and the header will not be redirected. It's impossible for your ISP or anyone to know that this is a proxy.

Well you can run a whois http://ws.arin.net/whois/, but it's hard to say anyway.

From what I know(or thought I knew) running through a VPN should be more risky actually. As VPN's runs with IP pools, of for example 250 IP's which is randomly assigned to you. I would belive, if you ware on the same same VPN as many other eBay users, the risk of putting up red flags are even bigger than using elite proxies.

If you are running a static VPN serice, that would be another case. But I would belive that running a proxy(which only you have access to), would pretty much be the same.

So if I use a private elite proxy service, and I get Static IP's. And assign one Static IP to each eBay account. How can they manage to detect that it's an proxy?

I'm sorry if I should have understood this allready.

Kindly regards

Vpn's are fine, if no one has been suspended on the vpn ip addresss. Although; vpn, proxy, hidden ip bring much more scrutiny than a "true" dynamic ip.

Hi SevnSins and thanks for answering

Well first of all, maybe I don't know how your common Internet Services works in the US. I'm from Norway, and Static IP is actually the most used service type.

Anyway. I really don't understand how using elite proxies can raise any flags, as eBay simply can't understand it's a proxy.

Hi All,
I've researched all the archives over ther last few days
on the question of whether using AOL works in masking my real
out-of-country IP addrerss with eBay, PP, Adwords, etc.
For instance, using AOL 9 and checking at IP Address Locator - I occasionally get my true IP but usually get an IP in Los Angeles (not Kansas?)
Does this that when I get the LA IP address THEY are not seeing my true IP? IS there any definitive answer?
Thanks, Steve

I seem to have found the answer to my question above. Signed on to Adwords with AOL 9 through 3G service. IP Address Locator - said I was in LA with a diffrerence IP, but Adwords recognized my location as Mexico and I suppose also read my true IP address.

Now what? A good VPN? Or move back to the states?

Hello,

Based on your previous posts, it appears you know more about proxies than I do. I am simply repeating what others have stated here. I actually use an auction management software to list, and tether my cell phone to my laptop for direct eBay/PayPal access. You should probably try it on a "throw-away" account before committing.

I'm still not sure about this. I've had a few stealth accounts over the past half year and using AOL (always with the same real IP) they have never linked them. I just make sure I check the what my IP shows up as before I logon to ebay/paypal because sometimes AOL does seem to screw up and show your real one but that stays the same for the whole time you are on AOL. If you reboot it usually you go through the proxy.

Obviously you will get suspended, there are many people using the same ip. I wouldn't be surprised if you get suspended.

Here comes my conclusion for AOL!!!

It sucks. Ebay sees your real IP. I have done a test, and it is easy to do it. Change the password of your ebay account once, and see the email ebay sends you. It states clearly your real IP. So, AOL cannot hide your IP.

BUT! AOL is a good testing tool for other so claimed "hide-you-IP" software. Use aol to visit their website, if they tell your real ip, then you can think of spending some money on it. If they see only the AOL IP, they are rubbish. I have used this to test "hide-your-IP"..... All of them see only AOL ip. So the only solution is to get a VPN. Not sure if this works well.

I use AOL dial up, but I use this old computer for it and just to create new accounts and answer Ebay emails. I use my other computer to list with Auctiva. There is no way AOL can give any other IP than the one it is. This old laptop's hard drive has been reformatted before I installed AOL dial up on it. The only way how they can get me is through the phone line... But, do they really go this far just to see if this is a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ account? I think, NOT.

damn looks like you are right. I wonder how it is being released because all of the "showmyip" type sites I have tried have not been able to see my real one.

Exellent test with Aol broadband when changing password on Ebay account.
I am trying Aol 7.0 and the same thing happens Ebay sees your original ip address not the Aol address.
It clearly shows in the email from Ebay your ip address(and it ain't Aol's ip).

Default IP and Geographical Location

I took some time off from eBay to re-read Aspkin's Stealth Book and regroup after eBay linked all my accounts withing 2 weeks. I have made some changes to tighten things up but I know that eBay is watching for me. I live in a medium to smallish midwestern city and there are no other cities within 500 miles of me. So I set up several accounts using addresses from all over the US. I even got phone numbers that go with the addresses - forwarded to my home phone. I use a DSL modem exclusively for eBay and I can change the IP by unplugging it for a minute or two. It never occurred to me that eBay could locate me by my IP address. After all this trouble of setting up about 15 new accounts all over the US - I now am afraid to access them because I will be using the IP that is provided by my DSL modem and if that links me to the city that I live in - then I am screwed. I don't want to hide my IP from eBay because that is just asking to get suspended. I just make sure that I reset my modem every time I log onto a different eBay account. What can I do? This is the last piece of the puzzle. If I cannot hide using different IP addresses - then I don't know how I can go Stealth.
