Default Google Checkout does request information and verify documents - and check EBAY status

Googlecheckout does get particular sometimes though!

Today I received this on one of my five G.checkout accounts (this is a newer one created recently):

Hello /,

After reviewing your account again, we found that you have not yet updated
your Public Business website URL as requested in our previous email.

As a result, your account has been suspended. Any pending and future
transactions made with this account will not be processed.

Your final payout will be initiated within two business days. However,
your bank may take up to three additional business days to register the
payout in your bank account.

Sincerely,

_____
The Google Checkout Team

Crazy! in that I never received such a request. I would have complied in a heartbeat.

Luckily I do have various business websites that correspond to my EBAY businesses. But what would one do if one were EBAY only, no websites. Does this signal that G.checkout is tightening standards?

I added the public business website URL, they lifted the suspension and came back with:

Hello /,

Thank you for your email and for adding a public business URL to your
account. I have restored your Google Checkout account.

I understand that you are selling primarily on eBay. While it is not
necessary to list a public business URL to use the Google Checkout
invoicing feature, you are required to enter this information on your
'Settings' page because you're processing transactions completed using a
Google Checkout button on your website.

I noticed that there are currently no Google Checkout buttons visible from
http://www.***.com. If we find that http://www.***.com
does not match the website you're using for Checkout transactions, your
account may be suspended again. If you are including Buy Now buttons
directly on your eBay listings, please be sure to update your public
business URL with the address of your eBay store.

Google does not prohibit the use of Google Checkout on eBay or any other
marketplace. Google Checkout is designed to support buyers and sellers
across the web.

However, you may wish to review the appropriate eBay policies at
Accepted Payments Policy to
confirm the options available to you. You may also contact eBay directly
at eBay Help to request clarification or provide
feedback.

We appreciate your assistance. If you have additional questions, please
visit https://checkout.google.com/support/sell or reply to this email.

Sincerely,

____
The Google Checkout Team

That's funny, because I use PayPal on my own websites (including this one I gave them) for payments. Not because I don't want to use G.checkout everywhere - just too lazy to change all the buttons on my websites.

Anyway, I wrote them this, and hope that will be the end of it:

Hi,

But I'm not processing transactions completed using a Google Checkout button on my website.

I use cartmanager to send you an invoice from EBAY auctions. In other words, I use Googlecheckout either to send direct invoices to my EBAY buyers, or buyers who ask for custom quotes on my website, or I use the cartmanager system to automatically invoice EBAY auction winners with a Googlecheckout invoice, via this API callback URL
https://www.cartmanager.net/cgi-bin/...ifications.cgi

Thank you! kindly for offering an option for EBAY aside from that terrible behemoth PayPal,

Behemoth (Hebrew בהמות, behemot; Arabic بهيموث bahīmūth, or بهموت bahamūt) is a creature mentioned in the Book of Job, 40:15-24.

The word is most likely a plural form of בהמה (bəhēmāh), meaning beast or large animal. It may be an example of pluralis excellentiae, a Hebrew method of expressing greatness by pluralizing a noun; it thus indicates that Behemoth is the largest and most powerful animal.

Metaphorically, the name has come to be used for any extremely large or powerful entity.

It goes on:

Hello /,

Thank you for clarifying how you are receiving your Google Checkout
transactions.

While I understand that you are not displaying Buy Now buttons on your
eBay listings, we will still need to review your site for compliance with
our content policies. Please reply to this email with the URL of your eBay
store so that we can review your account again.

Additionally, because the orders in your account do not appear to have
been created using our invoicing feature, please also include the URL of a
page displaying one of the Checkout buttons generated by CartManager your
buyers use to complete their purchases.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Sincerely,

____
The Google Checkout Team

*Sigh. They still don't get it. So I wrote 'em:

Hi!

My EBAY username is __________

Here is an URL of a page displaying one of the Checkout buttons generated by CartManager:
https://***********************************

Thank you!

Give them what you have, and explain what you don't have, and why.

Is this a business G.checkout account or personal? If personal, you wouldn't necessarily be expected to have a business license.

You can also try sending them pics of your inventory next to a copy of today's newspaper to prove you have the goods.

Well I thought it was personal but when I set it up last year (as I have had it for almost a year) I did put in a business name as it had a field for it so I made one up that associated with the email address. I have no currently inventory as I sold everything before my account was suspended. I only keep an inventory of a few items at a time. Sell them, then go buy more. But I do have old receipts. I purchase items from the factory outlet stores and then re-sell them on eBay. Coach, Dooney&Bourke, etc. Anything I think I can make some money on.

the fact that google seems to be actively reading your emails and checking and then responding according to what they find puts them 500 billion miles ahead of paypal imo.

Thats EXACTLY what I thought when reading this. It's so nice to google actually responding to the issue in hand, rather than replying with a totally irellevant automated email. They almost seem somewhat conversational.

Okay, then didn't it ask for an EIN, since you "created" a business account? If you made that EIN up too, then your G.checkout account is a ticking time bomb waiting to self destruct. You will not make it past this document request.

No I never made up any EIN number. I don't recall them asking for one. And I know better than to make one up. I did have to enter my SS# as with most do to get over that $500 withdrawal hurdle.

The only bad thing is that's their only way to contact you and they take a long time to do it.

But I guess it's okay, most of their systems are automated and I haven't had to contact them much.
