Action required: Identity confirmation [Threshold reached - Legit email]
I got this very strange (still LEGIT) email from PP. Haven't found anything like this neither on the web neither in Google as of yet:
"Here at PayPal, we strive to provide our customers with a safer payment environment and comply with regulatory requirements. As part of our continuous efforts in delivering these commitments, we need you to confirm your identity at a particular milestone with us.
You've reached your account balance threshold of 5,000 SGD or the equivalent in your local currency.
Please confirm your identity by [date]. To start, click the button below and provide the required documentation."
Then now into my account (it's a US account) I must submit the docs in this link: https://www.paypal.com/compliancepolicy/dashboard
5000 SGD are equal to approx U$S 3500, which was the approx amount I actually had in my balance (in EUR currency) and that was used to make payments in a 3-months-span. The docs supplied didn't satisfy PP which subsequently led the account to a limitation and the payments sent from it are all held still "Being Reviewed by PP" after more than a week.
But what it confuses me is that several other accounts that reached and surpassed that amount didn't get hit by this email.
I suspect that this only affects accounts with GBP, EUR, etc currency accounts but not ones whose balance are in USD.
I also suspect that it has to do with government compliances rules and that the thresholds do reset on 1st Jan of every year.
Any thoughts?
