Yeah I think on USB wireless devices such as AT&T, Sprint, Virgin, Cricket, CLEAR there is no MAC address since they operate like a hi speed dial up connection by using a SIM card to access the Internet.

In all my tests I have never found a MAC address for these devices.

Can anyone tell me if I am missing something?

I opened my blackberry curve and saw a MAC address for the bluetooth by the sim card, but everything that connects to the internet has a MAC address, no exceptions. Dial up connections do too (the modem). The MAC address is a basic component of today's networking technology.

I think that one these dongles the MAC address is handled by the dongle or the network and is not directly visible to the end-user.

I think those mifi devices mentioned by ONE would be an option, because I think you are connecting to them with your wifi connection and can mess with the MAC addresses.

I think it is a mobile broadband device from Sprint that shares a EVDO 3G connection with multiple computers via wifi.

The question here is which MAC address will amazon see?
Will they see the generic MAC address windows assigns to the outgoing connection or will they see the physical address of the 3G device?

Also, is there a site that can verify which MAC address is being used like there are many sites that show IP addresses?

Thanks

What if we a virtual computer. Wmware.
And use a new network and new internet 3g dongle to each virtual machine?
Would that solve the problem? Ofcourse disable the rest of the adapters when using the required adapters?
What do you think?
Has anyone try this:

I have to disagree with that statement since I feel that wireless USB dongles are the exception since they are not a piece of hardware physically connected to the PC.

I understand your curve having a MAC address since you are basically using one PC type device to connect to another. A device like CLEAR USB is just a glorified cell phone SIM card temporarily connected to your PC through a USB port.

I have run virtually every type of MAC detection software and none of them ever detects a MAC address on my CLEAR USB so in mt opinion if I can't detect it then Amazon can't.

There are certain sites, like for example, Mcdonald's and Starbucks wireless portals, that will actually display the MAC address in the dynamic URL you use to connect to the service. Only way I know of I to see which MAC address a server sees.

The spoofed mac should show, not the original one. You've changed the mac, not simply hidden the original. "spoofed" is a confusing term in that context.

Yeah I think we should stop using the word spoof if it actually means changing the mac and not merely disguising it

If you can get to a local starbucks with wifi, check there. The MAC address will be displayed in the dynamic URL in the browser on the first window you launch.

Update boogernaut, you must be doing something wrong. I tried it on one of my machines and the spoofed MAC address shows up in ipconfig.
