Mac Address Important or No?

In the Amazon Ghost guide there is a very large section dedicated to changing your MAC address, however on the forums I often see users saying Amazon does not track MAC address.

Does Amazon actually tract MAC addresses? Is it necessary to obtain a new MAC address?

Because the book is quite out of date. MAC is not tracked or logged.

A LONG time ago there were ways to reveal user's MAC address through the security holes of ancient browsers such as IE with ActiveX enabled. Now it is not possible.

So now just creating new user accounts on your laptop will work right. New user accounts and new IP and that's it?

yes, new account on laptop, new ip, new ID, new phone and banking info. I read somewhere you have to change the name of your computer, i don't know if it is necessary, but easy enough to do it.

I also bought the book few weeks ago and, even if it is very useful, it is too bad to not update it, that makes new user like you and me more confused.

Yes totally agree, the update would eliminate a lot of questions and mistakes.

I'd still consider using vmware to create accounts. If you just use new use accounts on your pc other things will give you away like a combination of what fonts, browser version, and browser plugins you have. If those are always the same you'll have issues.

I would also back that up and use VMware. Just creating new windows user accounts is not safe enough for my liking. Amount of testing I have done with it, creating just new user accounts I personally have found is not solid enough.

And a lot of this is based on Amazons speculation. Amazon has no issues closing account because it MAY be someone else.

Have you tested this with TOTALLY different items on accounts?

browser fingerprints are DEFINITELY a huge factor, along with screen resolution.

if you use different user accounts vs machines, switch up browser size, versions, everything you possibly can.

Amazon uses google's algorithm for account linking and I have successfully surpassed google's ability to tell im using the same machine by varying the browser's pixel dimensions (size) and versions.

Browser fingerprinting is not a factor, your going way way to deep buddy. I run several accounts from one laptop with different users, IP's and never had a problem and have been doing this for several years.

its really not that deep. browser headings get submitted to every single site visited.

google and amazon are romantic lovers. google hooked amazon up with their advanced detection technologies in exchange for some leisure shopping money. pretty sure google also made amazon a sandwich. Point is, their abilities are the same.

sometimes I make 10+ gmails a day. Google doesn't like this one little bit. Their algorithms pick up patterns and browser fingerprints are a huge factor.

I used to battle it with different virtual machines. Even still, it would sometimes flag, requesting text/phone verification. Pissed me off.

I've since changed up the dimensions for each and voila.


don't be surprised if more companies adopt this technology soon; i.e. ebay and paypal. Its ONLY use is to help fight against us cyber "criminals" finding ways around their rules.

We all know about the technology, but amazon DON'T use it, simple.

Even though they cant track mac address but amazon uses browser fingerprints and canvas fingerprints to check how unique your machine is, trust me these fingerprints reveal so much information about your machine and with data collected amazon can link your accounts.

What do you mean by different browsers? You mean each user account, you use a different browser? But there's only like 3 often used browsers right? firefox, chrome, IE, maybe even opera. But it's not like there's a huge selection right?

NOT SAFE

i tried using different user account. and one of the feature in amazon now is live chat as a buyer. i tried using those in different accounts which i have multiple seller account.

1 of them are banned from using live chat although the seller account is ok and not suspended.
