Default UK VAT requirement

How are people working around the need to supply AMZ UK with VAT numbers for each individual stealth account? This is now a requirement even for overseas online sellers as far as i understand (or face the wraith of HMRC reporting you to Amazon and forcing store closure).

Im assuming you cant attach 1 VAT number to more than 1 Amz store due to linking...

What about for sole proprietors - does HMRC even allow more than 1 VAT's for sole proprietors?? Or would we need to actually apply for a new VAT number (via new corporation) for each store??

Correct you will need a unique VAT for each store.

If you are providing VAT and real information on your account, and its verified, its virtually limitless.

Not sure why anyone would need more than a few unlimited accounts

1 VAT number per store. You put the same one into another Amazon account and they will either suspend both, or tell you to stop selling on the other.

One thing you can do is have multiple new accounts, but stay below the VAT threshold for the other ones. Still declare/pay your taxes, but don't link your Amazon accounts together. If you ever (unjustly) get suspended from Amazon, all of them will fall like dominoes otherwise.

Speaking for myself here, Im sure everyone will have their own reasons - The main reason I avoid selling more than 2/3 different products on any single account (be it Amazon or eBay) is simply to avoid scrapers coming along and putting my entire business at jeopardy.

If you have a line up of 50+ products which are doing well, and you get scraped, you can be sure that in no time your sales will drop.

Would you sign up for a new VAT account number under a new (separate) sole proprietor business entity or would you request a new VAT numbers under your existing sole proprietor account?

VAT is not that easy what you think, you have to submit your vat return after 3months and pay vat within week time

Best to get advice from tax adviser first
