Yes it seems like its safe
Keep the authenticator app (like google authenticator), offline 100% of the time
Then use that app to verify multiple accounts. Always make sure its offline

No one has put this out there yet.
Was wondering; when we tell AZ to remember this computer, are we giving them the ability to read our MAC address?
Would prefer to use one computer for many accounts, but if they pull the MAC, it would be a big problem.
Anyone that has multiple accounts already set up with the AZ 2 step should be able to verify the use of 1 computer for many accounts.
I do agree with this 2 step, but it will be a hemorrhoid when travelling. If 1 computer is good, guess we will authorize all accounts on laptop before travelling.
Thanks

Has anyone tried this on a windows computer with multiple accounts? Guessing phone # is still necessary. This is a paste direct from AZ help pages.
Same-device sign-up
3. Log in to Seller Central and go toSettings > Login Settings.
4. Click the Edit button next to Advanced Security Settings, and then click the Get Started button.
5. Check Authenticator App when prompted to choose how you'll receive codes.
6. Click on the Can't scan the bar code? link and copy the information there.
7. Open your authenticator app, add a new account, and paste the information you copied. This links your app to your seller account.
8. The app will automatically generate a random code that you need to re-enter on the enrollment screen under the QR code. Click Verify code and continue.
9. The app will now provide new codes on a continuous basis.
Thanks

Thanks | They cannot read MAC, but you should not be using multiple Amazon accounts on the same computer unless you are separating them with virtual machines. Once you setup the two-step and verify, you have the option to turn it off. Not sure if they are forcing all people to keep this on, but you do have the option to disable it in the advance settings AFTER initially setting it up.

Has worked for almost 4 years by using internet sticks and the usual other details. Have also accessed all accounts on our laptop when travelling using the same internet sticks.
Why would this be an issue, if you don't mind me asking, Elmo?
Thanks for all your posting in this matter.

I am getting ready to verify two accounts. I have a prepaid number for both I keep active. ...Because I had a dumb moment. I used my "everyday-bad linked to hell" phone number. I only used it to take a photo of that square thing and got a number and enter that. I still have one more step and that is where they will text me to the accounts number. ...I am wondering and my question is ...by downloading app my "everyday-bad linked to hell" phone number that scanned the code square thing....is that going to link me? I hope that make sense...I am going to re do it with my correct number and then finish verification with my prepaid. Thanks for any input.

Another question about 2 step verification. I have a virtual asst. I have everything fine and followed steps to stay stealth. I never got them a phone. Because they are just added on as a user will they have to do the two step verification? Can they send the code to my phone and I let my worker know what it is....Question is can my account phone verify my account and my virtual asst. user name and password...(SAME ACCOUNT)?

I'm going to change my mobile phone number from the one on the old blocked account to a new one. Anyway to check if the number was registered to a business or something to help alleviate getting one that was used to a blocked account? Sprint lets me pick the numbers I want to switch too.

As long as you're getting a new number that is random that you have personally not used on amazon before, chances are the number will be fine.

There is no phone number in using google authenticator
You download the app on the phone, keep your phone always offline, then you scan the QR code to get a code on the authenticator app. All this is done offline on the app/phone.

How do you keep your phone offline on the authenticator? So, if I'm using a blocked mobile phone, they would have no idea off of the authenticator app?

Just wanted to update people as of 6/7/2017
Successfully removed two-step verification by turning it off AFTER initially setting it up. It removed the requirement to have it active by June 30th so far. Not sure if this is a long term fix but it seems like a temporary solution if you have multiple accounts and don't want to deal with two-step.

That makes no sense Mark2be, you want to have access to that backup number in case you lose the original two-step verification device.
