Your defect rate needs to be under 5% and even if it is above, that doesn't mean the account is toast. I wouldn't be so quick to write off this account unless you KNOW FOR SURE your customer metrics are going to be way out of the ballpark. Often they just warn you and tell you to shape up, fix the numbers. Sounds like a good account to me, not sure I would just jam and leave Amazons customers hanging forced to go the Claims Route Just yet.
You can withdraw the amount in your bank account except about $45 dollars so they can be paid their Merchant fee, if you feel they owe you money. You can send your customers their refund by mail, but there are risks associated with it but it will keep your numbers low
Unless your item defect rate is high, your account shouldn't be closed. It is going to get more difficult to open Amazon accounts in the future, it appears they will want a Social Security Number so you may want to keep this account
