To those that are Featured Merchants, how much volume were you selling at the time that you became featured, and what was your feedback like? I'm currently a small guy - ~700 orders in the last 365 days with only ~70 feedback. 3 of those feedbacks are negative but they are from over 6 months ago when I didn't take the account seriously. I now take the account very seriously and have been doing great, with 100% positive in the last 90 days, and soon those 3 negatives will be pushed past the 365 day period and drop from my total rating. The market I am selling in is video games. When I look at Featured Merchants that are my competition, they typically have 1000+ feedback ratings (typically 2000-8000) in the last 365 days, which gives me a pretty good indication of how much I *think* I'd have to grow to be in their league. Also, I currently do not use Fulfilled By Amazon (FBA) but have been considering it especially if I think it will increase my chances to be a Featured Merchant. I know there are a lot of variables that are always different for each seller... do you guys have any ideas on the type of volume and dedication a person must have in order to reach Featured Merchant status, and what I should do to obtain it? Thanks in advance.

Its not all about feedback to becoming featured on amazon its mostly about sale volume. You have to be in the 10-30k per month to become featured but it all depends on the category you sell in.

yea ^^^. Amount of sales and income is 90% of it. There are some high end products I rarely sell, and I am always the featured merchant on those and almost all items I sell, even though some of my competition probably sell more because their price is half of what I get.

You can be a featured merchant right away using FBA and you will get a lot more sales.

Nobody is going to give you an exact product. Feedback is pretty hard to get on amazon, and with that being said you best bet would be everyday products, but even that can get people complaining about something. High volume sales in general is the only way to accumulate feedback.

I have already told you it counts as two. Not much point asking for advice if you don't even read it.

I figured volume has a lot to do with it. I just searched for an item that I sell a lot - there are 4 sellers, and I'm the only NON-featured merchant on the page. I have 70 feedback ratings in the last 365 days, and the other 3 featured sellers have 3362, 12917, and 2552 ratings in the last 365 days. LOL. So I have a long way to go before I get into their league. :-( But I'm growing.

I don't think there's an easy way to get feedback quick. I've sold around 700 items thus far and only about 70 have left feedback, so around 10%. I've tried doing all sorts of things to increase the rate that they leave feedback but haven't had much success. The best way for feedback in my opinion is to just not worry about it and attempt to grow your business - the feedback will come.

That's a good question. I was under the impression that it drastically will increase your sales, but I don't know by how much, or even if it's worth it. I know it also makes your items eligible to appear in the "buy box" which is the box that appears in the checkout process that lets buyers quickly add items to their shopping cart (similar to magazine and/or candy racks near the cash register at a grocery store). Does anybody else know more about what happens when you become featured?

WHY do they get a lot more sales? Do people simply trust the featured merchants more? I personally always try to buy the cheapest, regardless of if the seller is featured or not. How much of the sales increase has to do with the buy box? Also, are there any other benefits that featured merchants benefit from?

I sold around $15,000 a month as an FBA merchant, before I made a really stupid mistake and was suspended.
The idea is to be about .50 cents cheaper than the lowest guy and still make money. You research the top products in a category, find those products for about 40 to 50 percent cheaper than what it is currently selling for and buy those items and sell yours in hours.
The game is to take the box as much as possible, but in a manner that will not get you reviewed (such as selling for 1/2 of what the other person is selling an item for, this WILL get you noticed and Amo** zon will question you) This was my fatal mistake. STAY away from protected merchandise. Amo***zon don't play!! You can make big money but be careful.

Ah okay, so it looks like most of the increase of sales as a Featured Merchant comes from the buy box. I personally never purchase from the buy box, but I assume that it makes a big psychological impact on other buyers, and that it's common for them to purchase items from the buy box.

I will try to get close to $15000 a month which would mean I'd have to sell 750 items a month (my items average out to ~$20 each) or 25 a day, which isn't too bad. I'm currently doing ~5 items a day but that number is increasing.
