Do you charge for Local pickup

I see many powerseller in canada offering either no local pick up or local pickup with extra charges.

I personally do not charge for local pickup cause it is their time and gas they are using to pick up the item so it is really like paying for shipping for them even if they do not think so.

Do you charge for local pickup and if you do how does that effect your sales.

As with everything if I can get a little extra profit for somebody to just pickup an item then yea I will do it.

I've never come across anyone in the UK charging for pick ups, so obsurd for me would this not drive business away?

I would imagine it would put some people off, including myself, maybe you folks down there do it differently.

Someones buys a pick up off you and you charge them lol thats some hardcore sale right there.

I found about 98% do not charge but you get the ones that do like this one that charges $7 for local pickup in Toronto. Item: 200712956684

I think I read someone where on paypal that doing local pick up is not covered in cause of any problems. I think it's why some sellers don't do local pick up, they want that extra protection.

There's something creepy about having people come to your home to pick up an item. Probably why I never used Craigslist.

You meet them at a coffee shop or outside of a plaza.

Local pickups, whatever the reason, I try to make it seem as if 'my friend' is doing the local sale since I am busy.
High ball it or no go
I've done two local pickups and they were always at night time and have worked smoothly.
Be careful as they may try to low ball you in person, quite an often attempt for buyers to save money in general
Then after I'll cancel the transaction on ebay to save me the money
