Vanilla visa can go up to $200 I think. Highest prepaid card I have seen would be $100. I would say buy 10 of the $50, but the activation fees would be around $40.
Greendot will let you load initially something like 200... then you can add however much you want later. Of course this is just a bank account.... but it can't overdraft like a bank account, so there are some good uses for it. I use mine to pay for things that I know I may only want to try for a month, and not have to worry about a company rebilling monthly when the call to cancel the subscription fails, for example. I almost never keep any money it though.
The bigger banks advertise you can go up to $500 and buy them in person. I don't have any experience doing this though. I just started a new thread in this forum to discuss this since I don't see anyone talking about this.
