Than you'll be able to send BTC from Coinbase to your Electrum wallet! :) https://electrum.org/#home |

Its not an easy question to get an answer to because I did a bit of searching and tried to know. |

When you say it's tied to a network, does that mean that my coin has a virtual presence similar to coinbase holding them? Or is it completely and exclusively present in your wallet? |
| empirestate | 01-10-2017 02:13 PM | Re: Any Bitcoin or Cyrptocurrency enthusiasts? Once it goes to your wallet ie your computer or any type of hardware that can store BTC, it stays there, offline or online it stays there. This is called cold storage. You can recover funds by remember 12 set of words if by any chance your hardware gets stolen or damaged. |

| vogeltron | 01-11-2017 05:47 AM | Re: Any Bitcoin or Cyrptocurrency enthusiasts? I am not a seller of Bitcoin but would not be surprised if we trade below $800 for a short while. Parabolic spikes cause sell offs and those who chase trends get scared out on the way down. If it hits low $600 I will add to my position. |

Overall Coinbase is good because of its strict practises.

At least these two have a 1,000 yr track record. If another cryptocurrency mysteriously appears and takes off it'll destroy Bitcoin, and you will lose funds, or if the internet crashes you're done. With Gold/Silver you can pass it down to the next generation, can sell it immediately during emergencies and get funds right away. If the dollar ever collapses good luck buying bread with bitcoin. |
Re: Any Bitcoin or Cyrptocurrency enthusiasts? Virtual currencies have definitely got a place in the future.
Government/Conglomerates will not sit back and do nothing if the internet crashes - its in their own interest to ensure this money machine is up and running at all times.
Precious metals are without a doubt the most secure way of storing your money, history has shown this. But for the purpose of investment and trade, currencies such as bitcoin, USD, GBP are better as not everyone accepts Gold at checkout - otherwise it would be a PITA constantly having to convert it to a tender accepted by your local supermarket each time you wanted to spend.
The point is, spread your eggs out - don't just put all your money into one currency. We've seen many times currencies becoming valueless. |

Long term I think it's a good hold.
I'm thinking of getting the trezor wallet for safe keeping bitcoins. https://trezor.io/ |
| vogeltron | 04-29-2017 03:21 AM | Re: Any Bitcoin or Cyrptocurrency enthusiasts? Bitcoin to another record high. ETH touched $70 for a while. Many other Alt coins such as Dash and Ripple have been surging as well.

1360.07 US Dollar | Yea Parabolic spikes always create a pullback. I got in at first at like $18 when Coinbase first accepted it then it crashed to like $9 and I got in at like $11. Had no idea it would spike like this. Just know when people 100x smarter than me are all interested in this crap its time to take a speculative position. |

Re: Any Bitcoin or Cyrptocurrency enthusiasts? Waiting for bitcoin to dip again (and it will, it always has done), then going to invest in it.
So far came across Bitfinex for btc trading... though platform seems complicated/laggy. Anyone know anything better? (p.s. not interested in CFD). |

| yotano211 | 05-01-2017 08:09 PM | Re: Any Bitcoin or Cyrptocurrency enthusiasts? I just started making my 3rd ETH mining rig. I am making pretty good returns, about $11 per day after power cost per rig. The only factor now is if the building power can handle the amps. I might need to check out a office space or commercial space if I get over 6 rigs. |

My 2nd rig was much cheaper since I went with 6 rx470 4gb card and a $20 shelf from home depot and lots of zip ties. Sorry but I wont say overall cost, thats kinda personal. Its cheaper than you think. Both rigs have 4gb of ram, 60gb SSD, and a intel g3930 cpu.
1st rig gets 101ms/s but I still need to tweak the bios for better power draw and hash rate. 2nd rig is dong about 130mh/s but still need to tweak the bios this week to maybe get over 160mh/s. |
| danshan | 05-01-2017 09:46 PM | Re: Any Bitcoin or Cyrptocurrency enthusiasts? wattage? you getting a decent net? |
| yotano211 | 05-01-2017 09:56 PM | Re: Any Bitcoin or Cyrptocurrency enthusiasts? 1st rig with 4 cards is 625w, 2nd rig with 6 cards is 883w. I just built the 2nd one this weekend so I still need to undervolt and underclock the gpu core for lower power draw. I'm sure I can get the 2nd rig to under 750w.
1st rig is already underclocked and undervolted, I might lower it another 10-25w. But the 4th card might not like it, its the under performer of the bunch. |
