They tried something similar when I was in Australia with PayPal only. the Govt told them... yeeeea right! A Seller has the LEGAL right to accept ALL legal tender for a sale, so in australia, since eBay had to get pushy, the Govt. really F'ed them up... now they have looked into it, and can accept Money Orders, Credit Card, Pick Up, PayMate, PayPal... whatever! (as far as I can tell).

They closed ALL future appeals to eBay, then eBay withdrew the policy, and made it so sellers have to accept paypal as ONE of their payment options.

SUKERZ!

Does that mean that Ebay can't force PayPal in certain categories like they do in US? Some auctions you can list only accepting PayPal..

Doesn't congress and the treasury, possibly even the FTC, have authority on something like this? eBay checkout isn't really legal tender, is it?
good point, and also by requiring that buyers use a credit card/paypal to make a purchase through ebay, doesn't that descriminate against poor people ? people that don't have a credit card/checking account?

nobody999, I refuse to let paypal do expanded use on my cards so I basically just go and send sellers money orders on eBay. Sellers are just fine with them, it's only eBay that doesn't like them.
