eBay implemented a new policy in 2017 where buyer-faulted returns (changed mind, found a better price, etc) are now automatically accepted. If you can't afford to take the occasional loss on those returns then you need to add a valid return address to your account like people were suggesting in the thread you had going yesterday.
Your seller-faulted return preferences are in your account settings. You can set rules for what is automatically accepted and what isn't. All my accounts are set to not automatically accept any returns because I don't use eBay's return system.
