Do same pictures also create link? What if I took a picture from the seller who isn't in business anymore? Does it mean I am in link with him?

You had better to clean them up - batchpurifier or so - potential of being linked via pictures is known...

Do they link via metadata? or do they also run the image itself through some photo matching algo

I would think that the latter would use considerable resources. I just take new photos in any case... even if they do run photo matching algos, the slight differences in angles, lighting, shadows, means that the photos will rarely be linked.... even if the photo is taken of the item in the exact same position, etc

They don't link seller accounts by images using either of those methods. I frequently use the same, slightly modified (renamed, cropped to change dimensions) images across multiple accounts.

EXIF Data is what it's called.

I strip it just to be on the safe side. Especially since GPS coordinates can be embedded into it.

Don't reuse anything.

But if you resize and change the photo (and you should have stripped the EXIF before using it), it's not really the same picture, is it?

If there's somebody who hates you and wants to cause you problems they can probably turn you in, but those odds are pretty long.
