Default How long after revising a listing?

How long does it take usually for a listing to get its place back in search results after revising it?

Is revising a listing the same as listing from scratch in terns of how long it takes for the listing to be re-indexed?

Depends on the age of the account. Brand new accounts take 12-24hrs..

So best course of action is delete and re-list from scratch in this case?

If it were me I'd wait a week or two to see if sales picked back up. If the listing continued to suck I would probably end it and start another one, possibly on a different account.

Btw, if you have 2 accounts and use both of them to sell in the same category, do they affect each other if it is known to Ebay that both accounts belongs to the same person? By affecting, I mean does one of them pump the listings of the 2nd one down?

Do you mean that eB has them linked? Using same pics and listing info?

If you modify a listing in any major way it is counted as a new listing in search, and it's metrics will be that of the overall account profile.

It's best to only make tiny changes.

If you have two accounts, and they're linked, and you have the same item listed, it does downgrade the positioning of those listings in search.

You also face punitive action of some sort, either overtly through some sort of sanction, or less obvious in the form of an overall search downgrade.

I once had an account suspended for that mistake, back before I got the hang of stealth.

Don't do it.

I talked to an Ebay rep a while ago and asked about this specifically. No listing will be identical to the other, basically they will both be for the same item, but with different variations. They said it should be fine, but couldn't tell if they will affect each others' position in search result or not.

Trial will tell I guess.

The two accounts will be registered with the same info. So Ebay automatically knows they belong to the same person.

EB CSR advice quality is very low. It's as if most of them have never used EB at all.

It would be best if they weren't identical.

Search's operational methodology isn't really open to the public, so I doubt a CSR would be able to answer most search questions knowledgeably.

EB claims people would game search if they know the rules by which it works, which means it can be manipulated, probably easily.

Does this include revising the item in terms of adding quantity or changing the price? I'd be curious to know because I've heard varying strategies on whether to put your full inventory on hand in the listing or to keep it at 1 of each variation and manually update after a sale. What are your guys thoughts on this?

I don't think adding quantity would be an issue.

Price changes? That's probably factored into search, don't you think, price is a large component of desirability, and EB definitely has an idea what they think the optimal price is, and you know how EB is always trying to get you to change your price when you list.

I doubt they are going to promote a listing as strongly if they think the price is crazy.

How big a factor, though? Can't say.
