Afaik none of that applies since PP nor eBay know what the buyer put on the tracking label address.

If buyer had purchased label thru eBay, eBay knows the return label address. Same goes if seller provided label.

That's basically how returns work any way yes? haha

This is not about the credit card companies, or even the merchant banks.

There is this little known US Law called "The Fair Credit Billing Act" (FCBA) that controls nearly every aspect of a dispute, especially if a Credit Card was used to make a purchase.

The FCBA is quite powerful and always gives customers an edge in a dispute. It doesn't matter the reason, the customer can still invoke their rights/claim under this Act. If you’re unhappy with a purchase and have a justifiable complaint about its quality, the act also grants you the right to delay paying that specific charge on your credit card bill until your complaint is resolved. This right also applies to any merchant processor, e.g. PayPal or Adyen down to the seller of the goods.

Further to this, there are also laws at the state level that can apply depending on where the goods were sourced from, or shipped to.

True... but could get eBay to front the charges if seller fights it / doesnt go get it. Not on PP, but eBay.

Guess nowadays (especially amazon) sellers have to be perfect (goods, service, and everything in between) for buyers to be happy. Most buyers are pretty flexible as I had lot of sales where buyers forgot they even made purchase and item has been in back order and tried contacting them . The busyness of life, I would say buyers sometimes don't wanna go through with all that dispute etc. (especially low ticket items). But seller error is usaully the case I say and in rare cases its not. Anyways, just sucks buyers still have upper hand. I had disputes from merchant account where I uploaded all the right documents that corresponds with the chargeback codes and still card company gave it too the buyer. Oh well, just how it is lol

---------
you are being rather naive, bots check tracking status and refund if seller does not, after 3 days.
once refunded,case is closed.
seller can argue he does not have the package, well thats too bad,if he is a good seller,Ebay may give him his money if it is not a large amount out of its own pocket.
bots do not read narrative or watch videos, they are programmed to check the tracking status .
also if buyer returns empty package or a rock,he would still get his money back if tracking is good,Ebay will tell you to file report with USPS etc.
hence the saying, dont sell anything on Ebay if you cant afford to lose it

I just ate the cost and refunded. Not worth losing my account over. The item is sitting in a UPS store waiting for someone to sign for it that does not exist. I guess it will go back to the buyer who won't respond to me. So free item. Whatever.

Like I said, in over a year of stealth, this is the first time a buyer didn't use the label I provided.

sometimes you can call the buyer and explain the situation, people tend to behave better when they cant hide behind a keyboard.
if your buyer is not regular Ebayer,he may not be familiar with return label ,read his feedback

I'm also returning something, which aligns with the "ship within 7 days".
