Do all cases on any seller level, now get funds place on hold?

This just happened in Oct. I'm top rated. Only INR cases had holds. Now, every single case open, has a cold. Even changed my mind, or replacement returns. Ebay is trying to claim it's across the board.

When eBay see you start to get a few cases they can start to hold all payments for all cases.

I've been getting less cases than normal lately tho. Ebay is claiming that they are holding payments for ebay sellers across the board.

I havent seen evidence of that but its certainly possible that they have started to hold funds in a higher % of cases

What they are claiming is, that every case of every kind is being held, for all sellers across the board. Because apparently top rated sellers have been running away with money from returns. Before it used to be that when you become top rated, returns no longer have holds. But since Oct, all my returns have had holds except for like 1 in 20, for whatever reason.

Not something that has happened here in the UK, but certainly possible it is true in the US. I also wouldn't be surprised though if it wasn't true

I just have an Ebay return request which I approve and there is no hold.

I can understand INR. I can even understand INAD, even tho the majority of those are false. But to do so on " I changed my mind" cases, or worse, replacement cases... That's just absurd. I can't imagine there are a huge increase of top rated sellers completely giving up their entire business, in order to not pay out some buyers remorse cases.

No, eventually PayPal will allow you to opt into Get Funds Now, which allows you to keep the money during a dispute. But this doesn't happen until you have a certain level of trust; I'm not sure exactly what the standards are.

I've been on paypal for quite a long time, and I haven't reached that mythical level apparently. SOMETIMES I can call in, and if the rep sees that I qualify for seller protections, they will release the hold until the case is done, because there is zero chance I'd lose the case.

there is ebay holds and Paypal holds.
if you have a Paypal fund now account,it will not hold the payment,but OP is talking about EBay holds.
So far large retailers have reported Not so stellar Xmas sales,TGT,Macy,Kohl's.
UPS,Fed Exp expected record number of returns.
you know many small and medium size retailers will sell on Ebay during Xmas season,they could have emptied their paypal accounts !

On the accounts that were aged properly for me, i remember always getting holds on any return case, period. Can only speak for myself

Only had a few returns in the last few months but I didn't notice ebay placing a hold on any of the funds.

Why is this an issue? Buyer opened return case, you will need to give the money back anyway. Do you need to use the $129 for a few days for something while the item is on the way back?

It's an issue, because I don't want to keep money in my paypal account, and therefor, don't want my paypal account going into the negative every time a buyer opens a remorse return. And few days? It keep be over a week, easily. Buyer has an entire week to get it in the mail. Mail can take yet another week.


This is supposed to be a punishment for sellers that ebay doesn't trust yet. This is my damn business. I'm sick of ebay dictating how I handle every single tiny aspect of it, as if I can't be trusted to wipe my own ass.

My Paypal account is a fund now account,I dont recall when was the last time I have a chargeback or INR?
But Paypal does not speak for Ebay,so if a buyer files via Ebay,Paypal is not going to stick its neck out,they are 2 separate companies now.
The standards for getting a fund now Paypal account probably involved-
-least chargebacks,INAD,INR
-least reversals
-low risk items,fast shipping,upload tracking
-slow in withdrawing Paypal fund.
-Paypal is also known to get credit report on us,if we give them a reason to do so.
-Paypal can also access a data base where merchants who have or had merchant accounts ,some retailers who quitted their retail shops and sell on internet have negative balance with their merchant account provider,or order large quantity of goods from their vendors and fail to make payments

The problem is many EBay sellers have scarce working capital,$100 may mean little to you,but to some who are selling to buy food/medicine or pay rent,it is a lot of money,think how much you can do with $100.
Sometimes a buyer changes his mind and never return the item,but your money would be in limbo for 30 days.
