Default unpaid item assistant. good or bad for sellers?

i just started using this. i have been cautious with ebay and figured this can help. i am dealing with a lot of deadbeat buyers who dont pay on time,,,or dont pay at all.
idont want to risk a buyer who will make a complaint on ebay.
as far as stealth goes, is this a good idea to have on my account?

I don't use this but i would say nothing is wrong with it. Eb*y made it for a reason. They know a HUGEEEEEE amount of people buy things and don't pay for them. That is why they made it. Your going to open the unpaid item case anyway. So its the same thing, just a bot doing it for you. As far as i see no there is no harm to using it.

i loved it when you could choose how long to give deadbeats a chance to pay before it opened. min is 4 days. now its set auto to 30 days.

4 days? Seriously?

Why not give a bit extra time - surely it's better to keep that sale than to have to sell it again?

If you are so keen to sell it again, then surely you should have a massive stock of them anyway - so chucking it back on the pile, to me anyway, makes no sense.

But back to the question - I really don't think it is a problem, I have had none so far...

If you wait 4 days for payment and you haven't received a message from the buyer about him making the payment on a certain date or giving you some type of heads up you have about 5% chance that the buyer will pay for the item. I open and close the cases as fast as i can. Never waste time on a buyer that doesn't pay within the 4 day period. I have no time to waste.

i think if the person was able to bid the item 10 seconds before the auction ends, they should be able to pay within a reasonable time.
i used to wait weeks for payment and i dont think it is fair.
i used to give buyers atleast 7 days before i sent a friendly email and it never works.
since they dont pay they cant leave any bad feedback

this month alone i had 4 non paying bidders.
a considerate email would go a long way.

i agree...if they dont pay right away, they will never pay.
we all want to sell and get paid.
i had a buyer sending an emailing saying it will take him2 days to pay..no problems there

if you go to store and wait on line for an item, you cant wait for days to pay at the register.

not to mention now you are safe to re-list the item and find a buyer who will pay you

Ive had one buyer who took it personal, it had been over 1 week - i kindly explained it was automatically set & was simply there for me to recoup sale fees.
She hasnt left feedback yet so

I choose different options across different accounts, different number of days/ some are set to not auto open etc.
