Default Warning: New type of scammers out there

Just a heads up to people out there for a scam hitting around ebay similar to the nigerian scam

Logged into one of my accounts and had a question about one of my items.

Got someone claiming "Oh, btw my address is wrong on my paypal account: Here is the new one (insert their addy here)

New to ebay.
Built up some feedback to look legit.
Then tries to get free items for sellers who are not paying attention to their many orders.

I told them to send me the item number of the item they won from me, have yet to hear back.

Pay attention to your order people.

First time I ran into it, honestly.
I am constantly packing/double checking orders. Almost slipped through. Never saw it mentioned before on the forum. ebay is just getting too sneaky for me. Scammers just abound.

Anytime i ever read something that states could you ship to my new address, i live here but will be on vacation can you ship to my friend, and there are thousand more that are worded differently i completely ignore it and block them from bidding on my stuff.

Some of these people are probably legit since i have done this before when buying on a stealth but i try to stay away from this. I ONLY ship to pp address.

lol, people have been doing this since ecommerce was born.

rule of thumb.. sometimes people legitimately have incorrect addresses on paypal (have had at least 100 of those since i started selling).. i politely tell them i only ship to verified addresses for both our protection, and they fix it, i ship it, everyone is happy.

Well, I once asked a seller if a bicycle I wanted wouldn't have problems being shipped to my PMB.

I said something like this: Do you HAD problems sending this item to my PMB??

Note that I made a Typo and wrote Had instead of Have (I'm not a native english, so I make these mistakes every now and then)

This guy answered: I DIDNT have problems, here's your tracking no.

Only after that I realized my typo and said WTF!! I checked the tracking, not even close to me (Why it would anyway) So I guess it happens from time to time).

Thats the thing. I usually ask this as well. The thing that happened was, the person never even bid/won the item. lol
Trying to get free stuff, but I just blocked them.

Although this isn't new, it's good to remind sellers to only ship to the address on file with paypal. You will instantly lose any dispute if you don't do so...

i got a "paypal email" saying that my buyer paid, but obviously no money when i loged into the account, i always check the paypal account before sending the items. never heard about the above said, but good to keep an eye.

Default It may not be new......

But there are new sellers every day. The same old info to us is new and important to others.

If there isn't one already, maybe there should be a "Scam Alert" sticky somewhere. We all are affected by scams, and sometimes the same scam pops up when we aren't expecting it or it has a different package.

Another method I have used that worked out well I asked the buyer to send me scand of 2 forms of ID that a DMV or Government office would like I got a picture ID and a copy of a paystub with the correct address

Worked fine
