Default A benefit of a merchant account

While merchant accounts get more fees than paypal and they can rack up a ton whenever a stupid customer refuses to enter the right card or their card has no money in it and they get you 10 or more declines and sometimes you get declined fees and the person never pays.

Oh and then there's this mid and non qualified rates that are higher than the usual 2.x% that people usually have.

However with mine, what's nice is I can call these people up. They answer the phone and will talk a long time to get things fixed. PayPal won't do that. Who knows if google will.

The thing is I've found people hesitate with a payment processor if they're unfamiliar with it. You want to get as many negatives gone from you checkout process as possible to make the sale. The more negatives you have, the less sales you'll receive. A negative can be a super long checkout; it could be asking too many unnecessary questions to customers, having a crappy looking website, anything that can deter a customer from a sale. It's all about trust. If someone doesn't trust you, they won't buy from you. Having a 3rd party unknown payment processor that a person doesn't trust might lose you a sale.
