I actually didn't know how to "quote" properly the top of all that was a message from a different poster. They know a lot about clothing. I am not even close to their level yet. I hope to be at some point!!

I'm actaully writing this post in my new office

OMAR 1 shelf section - IKEA
Heres a link to what I'm currently using...

Its all a work in progress, might change it up in the coming months. Those Omar "shoe racks" are stackable, which is perfect for what I'm doing. I plan to get more and also snag a small ladder to. Once everything is finished it will look like a very very small stock room!

Thats so awesome! I just got some more plastic tote bins with lids. I need to start keeping track of my items more though probably going to use a labelling system with the eb item number and put the number on the outside of the bin. The more items I get the harder it is to keep organized.

I finally found a few mens items to sell. I am going to start listing them next week on my new stealth account! Men's clothes tend to be outdated and worn to crap.

It definitely happens. I have found with the people I deal as a seller I get the best deal purchasing these products in the off-season. Gives me several months to get all the pictures taken, measurements, etc. Ready to go when the particular season comes around.

Essentially I end up buying tank tops in December to post in 4 months later and Hoodies/Jackets in June/July to sell 4 months later. Part of how it works for me.

Are you planning to sell women's clothes as well?

I current sell women's clothing, bags and accessories. And the occasional footwear if it is in excellent shape and in demand. I sell higher name brands but less quantity. I want to move into doing more quantity so I can have more money coming in consistently. I am looking into doing men's because there seems to be a demand for it. But I am a rookie at this end of things. I've been working with women's clothing for the last 5 years in some form or another.

This is an old thread but it still relevant as it's about selling clothes on eBay.
Since i last posted here I have almost stopped selling womens clothing on ebay. I mostly sold jeans and women were more likely to return the items. It was PITA.
Women don't seem to know what size they are and the size 8, 10 12 etc they use to measure just seemed to cause confusion.
When i first started selling clothes It was mostly Levi jeans but sales for these just got less and less - because of more competition which meant they got cheaper and cheaper on eBay! I then started selling other types of jeans and they sold well - but now my
sales of jeans have dropped to a horrible level, I'm wondering if fellow clothes sellers have had a drop in their sales over the last few year? Any Bits care to comment?

Clothing is a deeply troubled category.

I was selling 1000 pieces a month, and people were just crazy. I measured every single piece and put the measurements in the listing in bold colored writing, I sold new and used, high and low end product, women's and men's and children's, bought clearance and held until the next year season, did it all. It was nothing but endless trouble.

I'm glad I'm out of it and in something else. My complaint and returns rate went from about 3.5% to .005%, no more 'It looked like it was one shade darker on my monitor' complaints, no 'MY tape says it's 25.335 inches neckline to hem, not 25.334 and it's too long!', no 'I can usually wear a size 26-28 but this is too tight'.

The market is flooded with Goodwill and outlet mall stuff at ridiculous low rates, and a lot of people just shouldn't shop clothes online, but do anyway.

Every bad transaction takes the time of twenty good sales.

I am so happy those days are over!

I wouldn't sell clothes if you put a gun in my face and told me you were going to blow my head off if I didn't.

If they've been a clothing seller for any time at all you wouldn't need to worry about them shooting you, they'll use the gun on themselves first.

Ha! Thanks for the replies.

Luckily I also sell new items that don't need to fit your properly!

I'd still sell clothes but jeans in particular my sales are dropping - it sounds like it's happening to everyone.

Jeans cost too much to mail, they weigh a lot, plus they're available everywhere for little to nothing.

Yep. AND they're stretchy(sometimes unfortunately!), so one size can fit several!

There's a guy selling jeans on eBay at the moment - he has over 4000 listings and he is quite expensive - but his jeans sell. i suspect the high volume sellers are hiding little guys like me who have maybe less than a 100 listings.
I've also been looking at my list of eBay sellers/shops I've saved for research and about 50% of these guys who were high volume sellers have stopped sell over the last year or so.
I'm glad to say I started selling low cost but high selling items a few years ago so I've made up for my poor clothing sales.
And as you all say selling clothes is a PITA!
