Re: Limits increase schedule?

My first suspended account is like 7 yrs old. My limit is like 5000-10000. Though I never really sold much on it. Until the last 3 month of it's life.

My second suspended account is like only 3 months old. Have over 10 feedbacks and I have 250/25000 limit.

I would have to agree that if you sell consistently and provide great customer service. You will get a higher limit automatically. Just like a credit card, like someone said earlier.

Re: Limits increase schedule?

I had an account I have not used THIS MONTH. It has 100-$5000 limits. I tried to list a single item with quantity of 100 at $75.00 each. of course it exceeded my limits and I had to edit it down. I then list it at 50 items and $3750.00 I then list 50 items at $25.00 and the remaining limit for the month is zero.

Sold nothing on this account last night seeing as the prices are 3-4x the value but limits have been raised to 220 and $8000.00

I would say this happens more than 50% of the time even on a brand new never used account.

I was listing items on one of my accounts and suddenly I got the notification "you have 40 items left to list this month" and I thought to myself " Why don't I just put the qty on some of the items, just to hit the limit"
Now I read what you've written and I think I might give it a go.

Thanks for that tip!

This system works great on all my accounts, I always get one and many times 2 raises in the same month 2 weeks apart. Accounts that are only 60"days old already have 600/18000 limits

The trick is to use all your limits, as soon as you get an increase than list again to your limits and just take away as u need to list

You do not need to sell to your limit you just need to list

Re: Limits increase schedule?

I am adding a product to that same account now that I intend to sell and will list all 120 available quantity to it and see what happens and then edit it down 1 at a time as I run auctions.

Dmshark25 07-28-2015 11:37 AM

Re: Limits increase schedule?

I always leave no more than 15 items and $1500 available and every month I'll get usually 2 increases 2 weeks apart , just list low risk items , than by 90 days the account has nice limits for when the holds are lifted

Re: Limits increase schedule?

I've seen chinese sellers do this but until now i had no idea why.

yankee 07-29-2015 06:16 AM

Re: Limits increase schedule?

another success last night. 100-$5000 now $150-$8000
I think I screwed up on this one. I did not list to the point I had to edit down a quantity. It seems that I get modest increases compared to double+ increases when listed to max and have to edit down to list more.

Guys,should i list 10 items at 100$ each for 7 days BIN?
I've been stuck at 20/1000$ for 4 months.

Re: Limits increase schedule?

Do you need more $$ or quantity?

Dufus 07-29-2015 12:04 PM

Re: Limits increase schedule?

I sell cheap stuff so quantity.

yankee 07-29-2015 12:07 PM

Re: Limits increase schedule?

So list 20 but first try to list 30 and then edit it down to 20. Those failed or blocked listings seem to trigger something. I usually get the increase the next day but sometimes 2-3 days later.

Dufus 07-29-2015 12:16 PM

Re: Limits increase schedule?

If i try to list more than 20 i get this.
''Request higher selling limit''

Thats what you want!
Now just list the maximum you can.

That notice seems to get the limits faster for me. Not tested enough but it seems to trigger an increase.

Should i also increase the price of the items to reach total of 1000$?

Yankee do you make business or personal accounts and do you think one is better than the other for increases?

Thanks

Made my first business accounts from the start today.
I think it makes no difference but a business may get less scrutiny of why they have all these items to sell compared to someone at home.
Of course I mean in the eyes of ebay.

Did they require an EIN from the start?

I've created them before without needing a EIN.

The only time I'm aware of them need the EIN or S.S is when you do that with Paypal.

yankee 07-30-2015 08:12 PM

Re: Limits increase schedule?

Paypal gives me no issues other than asking for docs or if I sell 80 items at $100 and all of a sudden get $30.00 sales or the random high dollar sale. No big deal. Two minute conversation and sometimes an upload.

Ebay just closes your account. Like, hey, this person actually knows how to sell so lets close the account. Always cheaper items.

Anyways, I open a business account, call in, explain where the inventory comes from, what my intentions are and so far, I got good limits and a "wish you luck with your business"
.
Testing a new technique tomorrow.

Ebay never asks and Paypal does not require it. Just bypass it like on amazon. Get that bell notice but that does not bother me.

Wait.....

If you have a business account and its good and the limitation is triggered because of your sales (for example) and you get the "high risk indefinite suspension" ...

Would a EIN number not work as proof of identity? We don't enter it in when we surpass the 200/20K like we do on Paypal....After adding that in paypal it strengthens your account (not saying its untouchable), but would eBay not accept a documentation of your business as proof?

I never thought of this but I don't see why it wouldn't work? If its a corporation too obviously the name is the business name so they can't go to your name and say its linked but its proof that your a legit business. If anything it could be a way to persuade at least ONE rep to overturn a suspension like these when they occur.

I could totally see if I got a suspension like that I could just call them up and say since I run my account as a business can't I just supply my government issued papers proving the legality of my business? It COULD work...hmm.

yankee 07-30-2015 08:43 PM

Re: Limits increase schedule?

Ebay likes businesses and seems to HATE small sellers with new goods. Makes sense.

Ebay business still has a regular name like Joe Smith as a contact name.

Ebay has never asked me for a tax number because it is not there job. They dont process payments.

I have never had the "high risk indefinite suspension" on a business ebay. I get them A LOT the past few months on ebay.

On the business accounts they call you OR ask you to call in.

solefoodbk 07-30-2015 09:08 PM

Re: Limits increase schedule?

Yes but my point is if you say sell 10k monthly I gotta imagine your flirting with a suspension.

If its a business account and they ask for your I.D could you not just supply them with your business information and not the actual personal I.D because your a business, corporation not just a individual running the account. I know they don't request it because they're not paypal but they do request I.D's frequently, especially when account grows in sales. That could be a way of working the system and getting a rep to overturn that type of suspension if it happens. I never could think of a way out of the whole "requesting your i.d" request unless I supplied them with a ......i.d

I never thought of it until now..

Re: Limits increase schedule?

I disagree with any dollar amounts. Especially the 5k or 2k a month. I mean if you are selling crap yea sure makes sense. But if you are a business it is nothing. Doesn't cover labor.

100K a month is no big deal IF you are offering great service and not selling crap. Now a personal account selling high amounts makes no sense at all right? So why woukd ebay like it?

I have no idea anymore. Ebay is nuts. Sell low dollar items and become unregistered, Blow out 20-30 $1000.00 items in safer catagories they dont blink an eye.

yankee 07-30-2015 09:15 PM

Re: Limits increase schedule?

I have a some premature conclusions about items as well.
Location of origin seems to make a huge difference. I say SEEMS because I have not done enough testing yet.

solefoodbk 07-30-2015 10:02 PM

Re: Limits increase schedule?

So you don't think accounts go under extra security checks when they surpass say 5K per month in sales?

I'm not saying thats alot but just like when you receive I believe its 3K banks have to file some report about it, I gotta imagine its something similar with eBay. In other words when you cross some threshold a bot runs a scan on the account.

I don't have any accounts surpassing even 3K. I have one doing 2K but thats the highest for one single account. All speculation on my end..

yankee 07-30-2015 10:11 PM

Re: Limits increase schedule?

Most of the accounts I burn through sell $20-50 items. Sell 50-100 of them and have an issue.

The accounts I NEVER have an issue with sell $350-1000 items and lots and lots of them.

Virtually all my accounts have 100% feedback, so I really don't see it being a dollar amount.

Now on paypal, yea, of course, they have a series of things they look for and one is a threshhold.

I had to call into Paypal a couple weeks for a limitation that asked for everything possible, After a 2 minute conversation I learned that a Banner(poster) I sold of a Trek Mountain bike caused the issue. It looked to Paypal that I sold a bike that should have been more than a thousand dollars for $20.00 with free shipping.

All I ended up having to do was upload a Photo Id. No big deal at all.

At 120 /12,000 now after 2 weeks. This list to maximum, but only sold for items for $2000.

Re: Limits increase schedule?

Ermm.... Not sure about why even BOTHER thinking about "how" they do the limit increases, as it seems pretty easy to get one. Its not like you need to trick the system somehow or check off certain things from an imaginary list...

It's pretty much rinse and repeat: List couple of items, take it slow for couple of weeks, hit the limit and wait for an increase, hit the new limits, wait for another increase.

Two types of rises I usually get:
10->20->60->180
and
10->30->90->270

I usually stop at 180 and 270 because I just simply don't need more on one account- If I was selling phone cases or some other bull**** plastic stuff, then it would be even easier to get limits bumped I'd imagine- Just take the qty up to the selling limits and wait for new limits.
The items I sell are all individual so I can't rally play around with qty too much.

Sometimes I experience a slightly longer for the first increase, but after that it seems pretty standard to get one couple of hours after I've maxed the limits. When it's a new account, I usually have to wait 1 or 2 days, then they'll bump the limits.

Re: Limits increase schedule?

I opened a handfull of accounts on July 30th. All had 50-$3000 when opened. All have sold to the limits on both quanity and $$$ or with $100-200 and have not had an increase.

This is new to me. We will see what happens at the 30 day mark

I feel the same way BUT new accounts are getting raises like crazy now for some reason. Start a new stealth, if you havent already and it will rocket up in just a few months. WITHOUT calling in!

I called in twice in the past 2 months, after the evaluations. Went from $5000, to $8500 to $17,000. Within two months. By calling. Easy peazy.

Either method can work, the main difference is that one is practically guaranteed while the other is determined by some unknown algorithm.

The information is available, it's up to the individual to decide what works best for them.
