| deepbluish | 04-30-2010 04:24 PM | Hey..this is an old thread and this quite possibly is a dumb question. I've read the entire thread about proxys/aol etc. Here's my deal: I can easily reset my modem for a new IP, that's no problem whatsoever. The thing I'm most concerned about is being tracked to my location via my ip address. Can ebay contact my ISP to get my personal information (full name, address)? can my isp give that information legally? The answers to this question will greatly effect the manner on which I conduct sales on ebay as I prefer to remain completely anonymous. 100% Thanks in advance experts and mods! |
lakeman | 04-30-2010 08:33 PM | Unless you're scamming people, then there's no need to worry about that.. Your ISP wouldn't give out your personal info just for being stealth. |

As lakeman said unless you are scamming, no need. Given that you appear to be in the USA there are options to access the internet |
imhim | 06-13-2010 04:10 AM | what is the best proxies to use to mask your IP Address? |
GreenBean | 06-13-2010 05:02 AM | FFS, in a 7 page thread, it gets recommended to not use a proxy and you ask which one to use, imhim? :faint:
A proxy is not recommended. Based in the UK you have many options, none of which include proxies>:boink: |
Vicvelcro | 06-13-2010 05:17 AM | The best proxy is no proxy. The worst proxy is ANY proxy. |
imhim | 06-13-2010 05:39 PM | sorry about that, I think I was speaking generally not regarding ebay or paypal. (may of been in wrong thread). |
cameron33 | 07-18-2010 02:39 PM | i have always used hidemyass.com
it has always worked. very simple to use, you can pick which major cities you want. and if for some reason it would be disconnected, it automatically knocks you offline completely, this way ebay cant trace your real ip....... just my 2cents..
thanks |

DIAL UP speeds anyone, isn't it painful? I have portable internet at present , and am considering switching to dial up, but from my experience at the cottage where we have dial up , it is painfully slow, can't run much of a business at that speed.
Your experiences? What dial up KBPS do you all have ? |
fenway | 10-03-2010 11:59 PM | Hidemyass.com
works for me for over 3 years with 5 accounts......
Hope this helps.. |
mongol | 10-18-2010 05:50 AM | I am confused here, why is anyone even considering using proxies, IP masking/cloaking tools, VPN, TOR, etc when there is an editors note at the beginning of this thread which says -
'Editor's Note: Our current research shows that all proxies, IP masking/cloaking tools, VPN, TOR, etc. will get you busted by EBAY. At best, they will throw your account into close scrutiny'
Am I missing something? |
@Jem, I use dial-up - it's annoying - you never know which speed you can connect at especially when you try to hook up to numbers that are long distance. If you can, avoid it.
I do this because my IP is static and until I get dynamic, only way for me to fly. |
thanks rsot
ya , I got dial up, and will get a wireless stick once \i start making money on dial up to justify it,
its not great speed, but like you said , its the only way to fly right now. its a place to start at least.
thx for that |
no_rat_race_for_me_thx | 10-20-2010 06:39 PM | so the survey says: nothing beats dial-up ??? i've got at@t u@erse - so that presents a problem for me.
whole house comm. system (internet / phone / cable) is governed by a residential gateway

i pay these guys $120+ a mos! and i can't even change the IP addy - wtf ?
i just want to be 100% sure i got no other (better) options before i break out the n@t zer@ cd ... |
fenway | 10-20-2010 09:30 PM | call them, they will change it. |
zitaqz | 10-31-2010 08:36 PM | Question. how do I change my ip? ive been trying to with no luck. i'm on a broadband and a router. i did try hide my ip program and i got flagged.

gmata2101 | 11-08-2010 09:34 AM | so askpin what the solution to all this? |
Trader914 | 11-14-2010 02:32 PM | AOL - Work or doesn't work? How safe is accessing ebay through services like AOL (I guess this can be considered a proxy server)? I know that when you use AOL browser/service, you are first going through their servers and you can see this when you check the IP address - it is totally different than when I access through Firefox directly. Can ebay know the originating IP address if you go through AOL? And will I raise a flag is I swap between AOL and Firefox? | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 06:26 AM. | |
