You must have bought one of them Get Back on Ebay Books?

Quickie 07-28-2007 02:39 PM

Chris, if you were en eBay watcher, and you saw an account log in, and 50 times out of 50 it came in with NO cookies, and you had to give him all new cookies each time. what would you think of him ?
You know in this business you have to think like the ennemy all the time.

Chris Hanson 07-28-2007 05:30 PM

I would think that person is very smart..lol It's nothing that people delete their cookies all the time. They are just keeping their computer secure and safe

Quickie 07-28-2007 06:24 PM

I'm paranoid

Chris Hanson 07-28-2007 07:30 PM

Quit smoking..lol

Hi I just got my first email from the forum and it looked like a suspension email from ebay ,i might have to change my preference to recieve emails as my nerves are a little shot from recent suspension

2145HAMILTONAVECA95125 08-02-2007 04:56 PM

Could some answer this

1.If i clean my cookies after each session will ebay know that even though i have logged in 20 or more times they keep giving me a new cookie ,seems odd that i logged in 20 times and each time there is no cookie on my pc,does this raise suspicions suspensions ?

2.Is there a ip switcher that works well ,as i was going to have 3 user names on my vista computer and on each user have a different ebay id ,it makes it less easy to slip up like opening an email from another of my ebay ids,as i have been suspended before they may be trying to link, and may make them linked now or in the future .

on each computer user name you have a clean desk top and in your email outlook text only etc you can just have the email account that is linked to ebay to avoid slip ups.
even if you are not using all the ebay ids at the same time it is back up just incase ,just change your computer id and your ready to go allready set up.

what do you think? all i would need is a ip switcher so i can change my ip for the relavent user.

Thanks

2145HAMILTONAVECA95125 08-02-2007 05:11 PM

by the way i am pretty much like most of the people here i think,i have great feedback ,allways ship out quickly these days quite pro but ebay dont care if you are doing a good service to buyers ,i owed them just under $200 for fees after they suspended me 5 years ago ,at the time i diddn't have it to send them and i thought oh i'll pay them later and had no account to sell anymore .i would gladly pay them any owed fees, most companys would give you a chance to do that but it seems they dont even give you a chance to pay it now ,and the new requirements so many picture ids etc required and then i hear so many people not being taken back after giving them all your info, then they may use it against you because we can hardly trust ebay to be decent can we.

Chris Hanson 08-02-2007 10:34 PM

Yeah ebay doesnt care at all. Right now I'm doing a test on ebay. I'm seeing how long will they let a bad seller stay on ebay. The buyers is people I know so no harm at all. But I told them i want them to leave negatives and complain to ebay. HAHAH.

Oh and the only reason bad sellers stay on Ebay for so long is because they know the system all to well

Cookies

Cookies

whats the best method to delete them ,i am finding myself deleting them every few minutes and thinking about them all the time,it really is distractracting.

one thing i am concerned about is ,i use cookie monster and it does delete them, but if i go to IE options ,temporary internet files/veiw files /it still shows some cookies in there ,so either cookie monster is not flushing them or something.

also a cookie i saw there had my computer name in it.
example computer name :john

cookie:john@ebay something like that ,but it had the name in it

does this mean regardless of ip it will see the computer name with the cookie abd your busted.

aspkin 08-04-2007 11:12 AM

You should try using Mozilla Firefox. Firefox has an option that automatically deletes your cookies each time you close the browser.

And remember each browser has their own cookie cache. So depending on which browser you use, make sure to delete these cookies.

Also, it's not necessary to delete all your cookies all the time. You'll only want to do it if you run multiple accounts.

Firefox - Rediscover the Web

Ballsack 08-10-2007 02:25 AM

Deleting all your cookies is inconvenient. Just look up any cookies named ebay and delete them individually.

aspkin 08-10-2007 02:44 AM

That'll work too.

imjustme 08-10-2007 08:24 AM

I would recommend a separate windows user account for each eBay account. That way you never mess up by accident.

Chris Hanson 08-10-2007 01:03 PM

AHHHH. very true. but what about the ip?

First of all, volume triggers alerts in EBAY. So if you start a new account and within three months you are doing heavy volume, EBAY will likely be looking real close. It has been recommended you limit yourself to one account at a time, but you really need to split accounts up if you plan on doing any volume at all without later suspension, at least in the first year or so. Plus you are planting seeds for later. You have to be careful as possible to not get the accounts linked.

IP Address is only one way that they can track you, and it isn't incredibly reliable. Why? Some ISPs have thousands of customers and for a given area may broadcast the same IP Address for thousands of folks. Many corporate IDs are the same. Company I work at now has thousands of computers. They all show up as a single IP Address to the outside world. I use whatsmyipaddress.com on my PC at work and then go look on one of the servers in the lab for the other floor on a different subnet in a different part of the building, bingo, both the same.

So EBAY can't link you solely based on IP Adress, they need something more. Yup cookies. Obvious, right? Now, you say, OK, I am real cookie careful. I clean up all the time. But one innocent miss is deadly. If a cookie is around when a hit on your IP Address happens and you are identified as a different EBAY user than the last time that cookie was seen, you are linked. It is possible for Ann and Dan to have the same IP Address and have no association whatsoever. But if Ann has Dan's cookies, well, there is almost no chance they aren't associated. If you got linked to a suspended account, you got suspended. Dead.

Aspkin says smartly to never log back into a suspended account. Of course, you really can, so long as you clean up your cookie trail and NEVER forget, but it is risky. You could get caught off guard.

Now, how could you get caught off guard? Beacons. If you don't know what a beacon is, go find out. They are an insidious invasion of privacy used by marketers. They are why GMAIL and some other mailers block all images unless you specifically allow them. You open an email with a beacon and you don't have them blocked, and guess what. Read about beacons and you will get it immediately.

Let's just say, EBAY is a marketer. Beacons are a way of life for all internet marketers. And Beacons combined with a cookie trail are deadly to anyone trying to hide from the EBAY monster. And I have spoken to well educated and very experienced internet engineers, and even many of them have no idea what a beacon is.

Beacons are a total invasion of privacy and should be banned and made illegal. But marketers are discussing now how to get you to open emails with beacons despite the new gmail and other mailers blocking them. How to make them beckon you to click "Allow Images" when you open your mail. And each time you do. Someone knows you are there.

If you have other suggestions or ideas for how to evade EBAY, or questions regarding beacons, post them here. I would love to see some more folks' thoughts.

Aspkin got me thinking. EBAY got me mad.

Well, I think the best thing to do is each time you get suspended, you need to back all your files up, I mean empty out your computer and star over, applying all the other do's and dont's found on this site. I have found that even when you clean out the cookies, and history, and etc, there are old tracking files that ebay places on your computer that are still there. Do a search on your computer for all ebay files, most will belong to you and there will be others that you don't even know how it got there from ebay. It will say when the file was created and when you last access your account on ebay. I was shocked. Just make sure that your computer is squeeky clean when login on and off ebay. Clear your cache before login on and after. Be peronoid when dealing with anything ebay. Peronoid is a good state of mind when dealing with ebay! It'll help you keep making money, just be good to your buyers and give them what you promise.

Your Cookies will kill you!

You clean them before you get into ebay ,but searching on your ebay the old name will pop up under cookies...Ebay looks for that ..

This is huge and can get you booted ...you are tied to an old email...

I use CC cleaner and clean after each page ..seems to work

Thoughts.

Need further clarification...

I have read this entire thread, but I am still confused...
I use yahoo for all of my ebay accounts.
I am using a computer with a suspended IP address, but I no longer log into ebay from it. I go to the library or kinkos to log into ebay and I use auctiva.
My question is: If I read the emails sent to me by ebay in yahoo from home (never clicking respond here or anything), they can tell that I am on a suspended IP just by them sending me an email and me opening it?

Rosanna 11-01-2007 04:30 PM

Yes, I believe they can. Is it possible for you to change your ip?

vers0 11-01-2007 07:46 PM

Penny, Going to send you a PM. Please read..

I think that if your cleared your computer from cookies and change your ip address there shouldn't be any problems.
I so far have not encountered any since following aspkins rules.

leonid5000 03-03-2008 05:18 AM

Internet Explorer gives you the ability to remove and clear some of the information that is has saved to your computer after visiting sites. But unfortunately it does not clean all of it, including the index.dat file. Therefore it is possible for someone with the right tools to see which sites have been visited and which files have been downloaded simply by viewing the contents of the index.dat file stored on your computer.

With the increasing threat of spyware and malicious web-sites redirecting you to illegal or pornographic material this lack-of privacy means that these sites will be stored and viewable in the index.dat even if they were visited unintentionally.

i use programs like Mil Shield, TuneUp Utilities 2008, PrivacyEraser, WinXP Manager or vista manager, Ad-Aware, Steganos Security Suite. They are the best of the best..

yea i know it just index.dat file bothers be ;-)
another thing is that i know that if you are red flaged and they want to see you clowser.. They can see your registration number from windows, name of computer, your screen resolution, what windows and browser you use.. Staff like that. i REALLY DONT KNOW HOW THEY ARE USING THIS INFO.
1 one is not to get red flaged. If you get red flaged by computer it go to the real person. It probebly wont get you suspendet but if you use many ebay accounts and 20 people complane they culd mach info that way..

GreenBean 03-04-2008 02:58 AM

Was there any chance that the ex ebay employee told the whole truth or might
he/she not have been high enough in ebay to have all the info?

i remember that but cannot find this link where employee talks about this. Can you find it? This forum got BBIIG ;-) cannot find anything

Modee:
Was that guy/girls name Techo or Tecko ? I do not even find any posts now, maybe they get deleted automatically after he's banned??

GreenBean 03-04-2008 04:00 PM

Aww!

;) Modee, I worked out that his name was tcho as well. I looked over 5100 posts
give or take and could not find the info. It never occurred to me that he might
have pm'd you privately. LOL. I had dreams of index.dat and mac addresses for the night. This is nearly too much for me to understand.

imjustme 03-04-2008 04:04 PM

Its a myth. Bottom line is if you don't sign in, they can't track you. Sure, they can and will log the IP address but unless you sign in, they won't know who it is. Anyone can be assigned any IP.

web beacons

I received an email today via aol and when i chose to open it in html via my browser i found it contained 2 web beacons i confirmed this by viewing the script of the 2each 1-px X 1-px clear gif immages in the lower left corrner

does anyone use gmail or text only email service to prevent web beacons from collecting cookies?

brokebackebay 08-01-2008 11:50 AM

I went in to change the computer and/or network and it warns me that is I do it may "affect access to network resources" Now please, you computer experts, tell me what I am possibly setting myself up for if I make this change?

brokebackebay 08-01-2008 12:06 PM

In addition, they give me choices to change three different things......computer description, full computer name, and workgroup. Do I need to change them all and what effect might this have on my "access to network resources"?! I'm scared to log out since I've changed it! Help!

brokebackebay 08-01-2008 02:49 PM

I'm not talking about logging in and out of different user accounts. That, even more me, is simple. I'm referring to something they were talking about earlier in the thread, about needing to change the name of your computer. Someone gave instructions, Go to Control Panel, left click performance/maintenance, left click system, left click computer name, and type in the change.

TGMT² 08-01-2008 07:58 PM

I feel sorry for the people that want to make more then one Ebay account. Seems like SO much to worry about! But I understand its necessary for many of you high end sellers.

I would be willing to bet most of the people visiting this forum just want one good account like they had before to sell their supplemented income items.

To get going again on one account seems pretty straight forward.....

1. Format and Restore your computer with the factory software.
2. Change your IP address
3. New Email through GMAIL
4. New PO BOX
5. New Checking Account
6. New Ebay Account with a variation of your name
7. New PayPal Account with same variation or your name as above
8. NEVER EVER SIGN IN TO YOUR OLD ACCOUNTS

badebay 08-01-2008 08:27 PM

When i got suspended from ebay their website attempted to scan my clipboard , im not sure what else it got rom my pc.
i am not sure why they bother...i had a warning message in explorer that the site was seeking permission to see my clipboard. i denied access. so we do have some security. I think it would be a wise precaution for anyone here who is seeking to open a new ebay account perfectly lawfuly. after being suspended usualy in a manner that leaves a very bad taste in the mouth. Lets face the truth and say that they do treat there customers in an inhuman manner. so what respect do they deserve in return. NON.
I would definatly restore my PC . Or reformat . before attempting to open a new account. if only to be sure all trace of activity known or unknown is removed.

abusing-eBay 08-04-2008 01:12 PM

my mistake. will it hurt my new paypal account?

I made a mistake.

Using outlook express receiving email from my new paypal acount.(I did not configure outlook to safe stardard)

in the mean time, logged in to my old limited accounts. (I have never logged into my new pp account using this computer)

So my question is: will the cookie in email find what I did on firefox? Or will the cookie in my firefox find that I have new paypa account by reading my email

Thank you so much

John14789 08-04-2008 04:24 PM

If I send messages through eBay to buyers telling them to pay via my Ccnow account can eBay use those against me? Can they get a hold of those messages?

aspkin 08-04-2008 07:44 PM

I doubt you'll have any problems, let us know how it goes though.

abusing-eBay 08-04-2008 08:06 PM

Thank you, Aspkin.

Your post made me feel better.

It has been a horrible month. More than a dozen accounts, half of them PowerSellers, got killed for a few unfair feedback in one account(the buyers got items and refunds too). Before finding this forum, my new accounts were captured one by one which made me desperate and helpless.

I should have bought this ebook much earlier. I wanted to save that money by only viewing the forum. It turned out that I lost much more than that. I wasted a lot money on wrong credit cards , wrong virtual phone company. and needless to say, time

Hope things could get better.
