Sorry to bump an old topic but it's better than making a new thread.
I am also wondering the same thing. I'm not convinced by the replies to this thread that it's a bad idea to use a school computer to access eBay, but I'm not convinced that it's a good idea either.
I'm about to set up a stealth account and have been planning to use university computers to access it. I don't want to use my home network to access eBay because there are other members of the household with legitimate non-banned eBay accounts and I don't want to risk the possibility of linking them to my banned account.
First of all, doesn't just the rightmost subnet of the IP address need to be different in order for the IP address to be considered different in the eyes of eBay? So for example, wouldn't 255.255.255. 1 and 255.255.255. 2 be considered different? It is my understanding that not all computers in an entire university have the same IP address. Second of all, many people will be using the university network to login under their own accounts to eBay on a regular basis, so I wouldn't think it would be suspicious to use a university computer for a stealth account.
Correct me if I'm wrong or tell me if I'm correct. |
