Ok changed modem 2 times yet same IP

I have optinum cable
i switched out my box 2 times but same ip but different mac
I also have netgear woreless router

I always thought the Cable company has your IP and has nothing to do with your point of location.

I am a DSL person but that reason is why I changed from Cable. I get a new IP every time I reset or restart my computer. Nice......

I have cable internet and I am able to change my IP at will by changing the MAC address. You might have a Static IP address. Call you cable company and ask them. Try to get a dynamic IP address.
