| Thermal | 11-28-2019 05:34 AM | Re: Is winning 25k playing poker a lot? I had pretty a brief experience with pokerstars. I love this game, but it's hard to play online. There's usually a player who starts betting big stakes at the very beginning, so you either have to risk a lot and call him (by closing the stake) when the odds aren't too high, or you have to fold. It's not a very pleasant, so I don't bother gambling online anymore. |

| futbolplayer | 12-03-2019 06:34 PM | Re: Is winning 25k playing poker a lot? Online poker is just much more difficult than live poker. I crush live poker and beat online poker, but I must work much harder to beat online poker. Players are much more serious online and are there to typically gamble less and take their poker more seriously.
At least 5K of my winning have come from online play though, the rest from live.
My winnings how now closed in on 30K |
| jporter396 | 12-09-2019 02:08 PM | Re: Is winning 25k playing poker a lot? i have made roughly 30k a year the past 3 years sport betting. took a year of winning 20k and losing it all in a month to learn bankroll managment, but other do it, im sure poker is no different.
the biggest thing imo is it needs to be #3 or #4 in the list of income streams, otherwise there is too much pressure to bet recklessly to pay bills etc or get emotionala. all about the setup and having intense discipline
i could care less if i win or lose a bet as i have the savings and other income streams to handle anything and bet within my means.
good luck op |
| futbolplayer | 12-22-2019 04:43 PM | Re: Is winning 25k playing poker a lot? Just focus on winning at games in which you have an edge, and this can become another form of income stream for you. |
| james_112233 | 12-22-2019 05:20 PM | Re: Is winning 25k playing poker a lot? Ive won a few thousand playing roulette over time. You have to have patience win a little amount and leave. Over time it all adds up. I just come in and do the martingale technique when I see 4 or 5 reds or black in a row and bet the opposite.
The only time you will see me at a casino is with friends on a night out and I have strict discipline. Wallet stays locked in the glovebox and I only take in the cash I am prepared to "lose" / "night out cash". And I buy my food and drinks straight away before playing. |
Re: Is winning 25k playing poker a lot? Martingale....yikes but glad it's working out for you |

I have managed to win this amount, combined live and online winnings within the last couple years playing part-time. My win rate is only getting better and I am starting to play higher stakes. Is this a lot of money to win from the game? Should I consider pursuing the game further even though I don’t find it enjoyable and view it as a waste of my time? | Quote:

Additionally, your posts/replies are rarely of any value. | No offense, I've been guilty of it too at times. But this thread was clearly just made in the hopes that a bunch of people would be impressed by $25,000 and feed your ego. Then the first person to comment wasn't and you got mad. I don't know whether you are actually looking for a real answer.
My advice would be either go all in (this and any future puns completely intended) and raise the stakes to where you are betting 100x as much and either winning 100x as much or realizing you aren't good enough to be a professional poker player after all. I think that it is a serious career and can make you very rich if you are actually among the best in the world at it.
Also, take an analytical approach- you should be recording and graphing your ROIs by hand or session and as many metrics as possible. |
| futbolplayer | 01-07-2020 02:16 AM | Re: Is winning 25k playing poker a lot? I wasn't making the thread to inflate my ego and I know many people who make ~1M a year from playing poker. I was trying to start a thread and share a journey and my first post was my prelude. I am going to continue to study the game and see how much I can make at it.
Also, for the people on the form who do not believe I am a long-term winner with poker, how about we play online heads up? I can guarantee within about 20-30 hours of play, you will realize I have an edge that you do not (tinsoldier for example).
I will continue to share my progress. I am hoping I can make between 250k and 1M off the game before I walk away from it. My goal is to do it within the next 2-3 years. |

| futbolplayer | 01-07-2020 10:51 AM | Re: Is winning 25k playing poker a lot? Yes I do struggle to balance both, it is indeed difficult. Not sure I understand the logic about participating in a chat and making money at the same time. Tin, if you are so certain I’m not a winner, surely you can play me heads up and not lose too much... why not accept my challenge? If your going to make claims that anyone posting on this forum is a losing player, why don’t you stick to your guns and take my challenge? You should be able to beat a losing player, even if your not a great player.
Rsot, I am going to begin to share screenshots of all in ev, net winning, and net winning without showdown in the future. One of my last leaks is better controlling tilt, I still spew on occasion.
My goal with this thread is to share my journey and help inspire others to become winning players to support their lives and businesses. It is possible to win good money playing the game and I don’t see why others claim otherwise without sufficient evidence (tinsoldier). Perhaps he’s bitter because he does not posses the skill set to win at the game. | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 09:11 AM. | |
