| | | ebayhateluv | 09-03-2008 07:19 AM | I guess it depends on whether you are a Democrat or Republican??
I can tell you from Personal experience, MANY, MANY men are INSECURE in having a Woman in charge.
Every business my husband has owned, the staff has always looked up to him first.
Women are advancing in this world.
What scare me about the Obama campaign, is that I fear of a Draft coming for my children.
I also wonder why--the Foreign leaders WANT OBAMA? and NOT McCain??
Why would Osama BinLaden and the other nuts want Obama in power?? |
| trg005 | 09-03-2008 08:38 AM | I am a lifelong Republican. When reading this post I can't help but think for every negative email/argument about Palin there is one (or two) I could post about Obama. That is the nature of politics or rather politics in the world we live in today. I read the post and think that's the dems spin, just as you read all the anti Obama silly emails circulating (which I never read, I delete) thinking right wing spin. EBHL is right, depends on whether you are a Democrat or a Republican. |
| aspkin | 09-03-2008 12:18 PM | I don't see how people can choose McCain/Palin over Obama/Biden. McCain is basically another Bush. Who wants more of Bush? |

C'mon in... the water's fine. |
| Jonas | 09-03-2008 03:22 PM | Well Sarah Palin was pretty unknown, but it turns out that she at least is a governor. And of course Alaska where she is from is home of internet-savvy politicians such as Ted Stevens.
I think John McCain should have chosen Ron Paul instead, but well now America will decide which it is more biggoted against: a black person for the Democrats or a woman for the Republicans.
John McCain could have chosen Ann Coulter as a running mate. She is a woman supposedly. But there's lots of pictures on the internet of her with an adam's apple, a mysterious bulge in her pants, etc. that claim she was born a man.
PS: The article posted had a typo and put "Ted Steven's" when his name is "Ted Stevens" and it should have been "Ted Stevens's". I think McCain would have been good if he was president in 2000 following Clinton. But following Bush, McCain would not be good.
As for McCain's age, Ted Stephens is 12 years older than McCain.
Ted Stephens, Obama, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, and most politicians were lawyers first.
McCain was a naval aviator and Sarah Palin was a journalist.
Ron Paul was a doctor.
George W Bush was a businessman in oil and baseball.
George Bush Sr. was a business man in oil.
Ronald Reagon and Arnold Schwarzenegger were actors. |

| imjustme | 09-05-2008 01:16 PM | My wife and I agree ...no more Bush! (pun intended).
Seriously. If McCain dies in his first few months in office, Sarah Palin will have gone from mayor of a town of 9,000 to president of the most powerful country on earth - in less than 2 years. And didn't see join a group a few years back that supported Alaska becoming its own nation? How patriotic is that?
I'm not anti-woman, I'd be more than happy to see a woman become president. Just not Sarah Palin. And also not Hillary Clinton. Although Clinton is way better than Palin any day.
And on the issue of Republicans or Democrats ...I'm not American. But I've lived there for quite a few years. I travel a lot in Asia and Europe and I'll be honest. The world is tired of America. Not of the country itself, but of its foreign policies. You can't just go to other countries to change their leaders just because you don't agree with them.
The European countries don't like Bush. That's no secret. But you don't see Europe invading America to get rid of Bush. And yes, I'm talking about Iraq. Sure, Saddam Hussein wasn't an angel. He was far from it. But in the end, didn't Bush kill many more Iraqis than Saddam Hussein ever did? The war in Iraq has caused between 80,000 to 90,000 civilian deaths. Saddam Hussein was accused of having killed 10,000 people. Bush alone killed 8x or 9x the amount that Saddam killed.
America needs a president that is not afraid to use force where it is really needed, like in Afghanistan. But also a president that won't put US soldiers in harms way where it was never needed, like Iraq.
I'm seriously afraid of McCain becoming president, because he called Alaska the "first front" in a potential conflict with Russia. Is the guy nuts? Go to a nuclear war with Russia? And he supports military action against Iran. Awesome, another nuclear nation.
At least Bush didn't go to war with nations that had nuclear weapons. But McCain is worse than that. He speaks of going to Yugoslavia, when the country hasn't even existed anymore for about 12 years.
McCain is surely a great soldier (even though he was shot down in his 2nd flight and spent the entire war in prison, never seeing combat), but I don't want him as president.
McCain will completely ruin America and perhaps even start a third world war.
8 years of war have been enough. Give peace a chance. |

I truly believe SHE will help citizens in whatever post she has, even remaining in Alaska.
I also admire her raising the special needs child, as i have 4 of them. |

| imjustme | 09-06-2008 01:15 PM | Let's see, Sarah Palin has:
- 1 husband.
- 5 children
-- (including 1 severely disabled baby)
- 1 of her daughters also getting a baby by the time she would be VP
That makes 6 kids and 1 husband. Don't you think this is a bit much to take care of in case she becomes president when McCain dies while in office? She would have to take care of 6 kids, one of them a severely disabled baby, plus her daughter's newborn baby.
Does the White House even have room for 7 rooms (one for her&husband, six for her children) for the Vice President alone? |

| Quasi_Mojo | 09-07-2008 06:18 PM | I just found the following online and thought I'd share it: Quote:
What follows is an open letter written by a resident of Wasilla, Alaska named Anne Kilkenny.
I am a resident of Wasilla, Alaska. I have known Sarah since 1992. Everyone here knows Sarah, so it is nothing special to say we are on a first-name basis. Our children have attended the same schools. Her father was my child’s favorite substitute teacher. I also am on a first name basis with her parents and mother-in-law. I attended more City Council meetings during her administration than about 99% of the residents of the city.
She is enormously popular; in every way she’s like the most popular girl in middle school. Even men who think she is a poor choice and won’t vote for her can’t quit smiling when talking about her because she is a “babe”.
It is astonishing and almost scary how well she can keep a secret. She kept her most recent pregnancy a secret from her children and parents for seven months. She is “pro-life”. She recently gave birth to a Down’s syndrome baby. There is no cover-up involved, here; Trig is her baby. She is energetic and hardworking. She regularly worked out at the gym.
She is savvy. She doesn’t take positions; she just “puts things out there” and if they prove to be popular, then she takes credit. Her husband works a union job on the North Slope for BP and is a champion snowmobile racer. Todd Palin’s kind of job is highly sought-after because of the schedule and high pay. He arranges his work schedule so he can fish for salmon in Bristol Bay for a month or so in summer, but by no stretch of the imagination is fishing their major source of income. Nor has her life-style ever been anything like that of native Alaskans. Sarah and her whole family are avid hunters. She’s smart.
Her experience is as mayor of a city with a population of about 5,000 (at the time), and less than 2 years as governor of a state with about 670,000 residents. During her mayoral administration most of the actual work of running this small city was turned over to an administrator. She had been pushed to hire this administrator by party power-brokers after she had gotten herself into some trouble over precipitous firings which had given rise to a recall campaign.
Sarah campaigned in Wasilla as a “fiscal conservative”. During her 6 years as Mayor, she increased general government expenditures by over 33%. During those same 6 years the amount of taxes collected by the City increased by 38%. This was during a period of low inflation (1996-2002). She reduced progressive property taxes and increased a regressive sales tax which taxed even food. The tax cuts that she promoted benefited large corporate property owners way more than they benefited residents.
The huge increases in tax revenues during her mayoral administration weren’t enough to fund everything on her wish list though, borrowed money was needed, too. She inherited a city with zero debt, but left it with indebtedness of over $22 million. What did Mayor Palin encourage the voters to borrow money for? Was it the infrastructure that she said she supported? The sewage treatment plant that the city lacked? or a new library? No. $1m for a park. $15m-plus for construction of a multi-use sports complex which she rushed through to build on a piece of property that the City didn’t even have clear title to, that was still in litigation 7 yrs later–to the delight of the lawyers involved! The sports complex itself is a nice addition to the community but a huge money pit, not the profit-generator she claimed it would be. She also supported bonds for $5.5m for road projects that could have been done in 5-7 yrs without any borrowing.
While Mayor, City Hall was extensively remodeled and her office redecorated more than once. These are small numbers, but Wasilla is a very small city. As an oil producer, the high price of oil has created a budget surplus in Alaska. Rather than invest this surplus in technology that will make us energy independent and increase efficiency, as Governor she proposed distribution of this surplus to every individual in the state.
In this time of record state revenues and budget surpluses, she recommended that the state borrow/bond for road projects, even while she proposed distribution of surplus state revenues: spend today’s surplus, borrow for needs.
She’s not very tolerant of divergent opinions or open to outside ideasor compromise. As Mayor, she fought ideas that weren’t generated by her or her staff. Ideas weren’t evaluated on their merits, but on the basis of who proposed them.
While Sarah was Mayor of Wasilla she tried to fire our highly respected City Librarian because the Librarian refused to consider removing from the library some books that Sarah wanted removed. City residents rallied to the defense of the City Librarian and against Palin’s attempt at out-and-out censorship, so Palin backed down and withdrew her termination letter. People who fought her attempt to oust the Librarian are on her enemies list to this day.
Sarah complained about the “old boy’s club” when she first ran for Mayor, so what did she bring Wasilla? A new set of “old boys”. Palin fired most of the experienced staff she inherited. At the City and as Governor she hired or elevated new, inexperienced, obscure people, creating a staff totally dependent on her for their jobs and eternally grateful and fiercely loyal–loyal to the point of abusing their power to further her personal agenda, as she has acknowledged happened in the case of pressuring the State’s top cop (see below).
As Mayor, Sarah fired Wasilla’s Police Chief because he “intimidated” her, she told the press. As Governor, her recent firing of Alaska’s top cop has the ring of familiarity about it. He served at her pleasure and she had every legal right to fire him, but it’s pretty clear that an important factor in her decision to fire him was because he wouldn’t fire her sister’s ex-husband, a State Trooper. Under investigation for abuse of power, she has had to admit that more than 2 dozen contacts were made between her staff and family to the person that she later fired, pressuring him to fire her ex-brother-in-law. She tried to replace the man she fired with a man who she knew had been reprimanded for sexual harassment; when this caused a public furor, she withdrew her support.
She has bitten the hand of every person who extended theirs to her in help. The City Council person who personally escorted her around town introducing her to voters when she first ran for Wasilla City Council became one of her first targets when she was later elected Mayor. She abruptly fired her loyal City Administrator; even people who didn’t like the guy were stunned by this ruthlessness.
| Continued in next post due to length. |
| Quasi_Mojo | 09-07-2008 06:19 PM | Quote:
Fear of retribution has kept all of these people from saying anything publicly about her.
When then-Governor Murkowski was handing out political plums, Sarah got the best, Chair of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission: one of the few jobs not in Juneau and one of the best paid. She had no background in oil & gas issues. Within months of scoring this great job which paid $122,400/yr, she was complaining in the press about the high salary. I was told that she hated that job: the commute, the structured hours, the work. Sarah became aware that a member of this Commission (who was also the State Chair of the Republican Party) engaged in unethical behavior on the job.
In a gutsy move which some undoubtedly cautioned her could be political suicide, Sarah solved all her problems in one fell swoop: got out of the job she hated and garnered gobs of media attention as the patron saint of ethics and as a gutsy fighter against the “old boys’ club” when she dramatically quit, exposing this man’s ethics violations (for which he was fined).
As Mayor, she had her hand stuck out as far as anyone for pork from Senator Ted Stevens. Lately, she has castigated his pork-barrel politics and publicly humiliated him. She only opposed the “bridge to nowhere” after it became clear that it would be unwise not to.
As Governor, she gave the Legislature no direction and budget guidelines, then made a big grandstand display of line-item vetoing projects, calling them pork. Public outcry and further legislative action restored most of these projects–which had been vetoed simply because she was not aware of their importance–but with the unobservant she had gained a reputation as “anti-pork”.
She is solidly Republican: no political maverick. The State party leaders hate her because she has bit them in the back and humiliated them. Other members of the party object to her self-description as a fiscal conservative.
Around Wasilla there are people who went to high school with Sarah.
They call her “Sarah Barracuda” because of her unbridled ambition and predatory ruthlessness. Before she became so powerful, very ugly stories circulated around town about shenanigans she pulled to be made point guard on the high school basketball team. When Sarah’s mother-in-law, a highly respected member of the community and experienced manager, ran for Mayor, Sarah refused to endorse her.
As Governor, she stepped outside of the box and put together of package of legislation known as “AGIA” that forced the oil companies to march to the beat of her drum.
Like most Alaskans, she favors drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. She has questioned if the loss of sea ice is linked toglobal warming. She campaigned “as a private citizen” against a state initiaitive that would have either a) protected salmon streams from pollution from mines, or b) tied up in the courts all mining in the state (depending on who you listen to). She has pushed the State’s lawsuit against the Dept. of the Interior’s decision to list polar bears as threatened species.
McCain is the oldest person to ever run for President; Sarah will be a heartbeat away from being President. There has to be literally millions of Americans who are more knowledgeable and experienced than she. However, there’s a lot of people who have underestimated her and are regretting it.
CLAIM VS FACT
•“Hockey mom”: true for a few years
•“PTA mom”: true years ago when her first-born was in elementary school, not since
•“NRA supporter”: absolutely true
•social conservative: mixed. Opposes gay marriage, BUT vetoed a bill that would have denied benefits to employees in same-sex relationships (said she did this because it was unconsitutional).
•pro-creationism: mixed. Supports it, BUT did nothing as Governor to promote it.
•“Pro-life”: mixed. Knowingly gave birth to a Down’s syndrome baby BUT declined to call a special legislative session on some pro-life legislation
•“Experienced”: Some high schools have more students than Wasilla has residents. Many cities have more residents than the state of Alaska. No legislative experience other than City Council. Little hands-on supervisory or managerial experience; needed help of a city administrator to run town of about 5,000.
•political maverick: not at all
•gutsy: absolutely!
•open & transparent: ??? Good at keeping secrets. Not good at explaining actions.
•has a developed philosophy of public policy: no
•”a Greenie”: no. Turned Wasilla into a wasteland of big box stores and disconnected parking lots. Is pro-drilling off-shore and in ANWR.
•fiscal conservative: not by my definition!
•pro-infrastructure: No. Promoted a sports complex and park in a city without a sewage treatment plant or storm drainage system. Built streets to early 20th century standards.
•pro-tax relief: Lowered taxes for businesses, increased tax burden on residents
•pro-small government: No. Oversaw greatest expansion of city government in Wasilla’s history.
•pro-labor/pro-union. No. Just because her husband works union doesn’t make her pro-labor. I have seen nothing to support any claim that she is pro-labor/pro-union.
WHY AM I WRITING THIS?
First, I have long believed in the importance of being an informed voter. I am a voter registrar. For 10 years I put on student voting programs in the schools. If you google my name (Anne Kilkenny + Alaska), you will find references to my participation in local government, education, and PTA/parent organizations.
Secondly, I’ve always operated in the belief that “Bad things happen when good people stay silent”. Few people know as much as I do because few have gone to as many City Council meetings.
Third, I am just a housewife. I don’t have a job she can bump me out of. I don’t belong to any organization that she can hurt. But, I am no fool; she is immensely popular here, and it is likely that this will cost me somehow in the future: that’s life.
Fourth, she has hated me since back in 1996, when I was one of the 100 or so people who rallied to support the City Librarian against Sarah’s attempt at censorship.
Fifth, I looked around and realized that everybody else was afraid to say anything because they were somehow vulnerable.
CAVEATS
I am not a statistician. I developed the numbers for the increase in spending & taxation 2 years ago (when Palin was running for Governor) from information supplied to me by the Finance Director of the City of Wasilla, and I can’t recall exactly what I adjusted for: did I adjust for inflation? for population increases? Right now, it is impossible for a private person to get any info out of City Hall–they are swamped. So I can’t verify my numbers.
You may have noticed that there are various numbers circulating for the population of Wasilla, ranging from my “about 5,000″, up to 9,000. The day Palin’s selection was announced a city official told me that the current population is about 7,000. The official 2000 census count was 5,460. I have used about 5,000 because Palin was Mayor from 1996 to 2002, and the city was growing rapidly in the mid-90’s.
| There was also a short broadcast on NPR concerning this. |

| Quasi_Mojo | 09-12-2008 02:02 PM | I saw the following in yesterday's weekly free entertainment newspaper: Quote:
Seventeen-year-old Bristol Palin got her a** knocked up five or so months ago by 18-year-old Levi Johnston. Among the hobbies listed on Levi's since-yanked MySpace page—"fishing, shoot some sh*t, and just f*ckin' chillin'"—was this revealing tidbit: "I don't want kids." But Bristol, says her mom, "made the decision on her own to keep the baby," and is now engaged to Levi "Shootin' Sh*t" Johnston.
As the adoptive parent of a child born to a pair of unwed teenagers, I'm certainly not in favor of abortion in all circumstances. But I believe that it's a choice teenagers should be able to make for themselves—with input from their families whenever possible—and, so it seems, does the GOP's VP nominee. Sarah Palin is pleased that her daughter made the decision—on her own—to keep the baby.
But Sarah Palin doesn't believe that other girls should be able to make their own decisions. Sarah Palin believes abortion should be illegal in almost every instance—including rape and incest. So Bristol Palin is being celebrated for making a choice that Sarah Palin would like to take away from all other American women. Apparently, today's GOP believes that choice is a special right reserved for the wayward daughters of Republican elected officials.
Oh, and Sarah Palin also believes that birth control shouldn't be made available to teenagers, she opposes medically accurate sex education, and she backs abstinence-until- marriage sex "education."
Sigh.
The GOP has poured hundreds of millions of dollars into abstinence "education" programs during the Bush years. I believe this enormous investment of public funds begs the obvious question: [Are] our children abstaining? Sarah Palin's aren't. Despite this massive outlay on the part of the American taxpayer and the example set by her Christian parents, Bristol Palin became sexually active while still in high school. Excuse me, but if abstinence education can't keep the daughter of the evangelical governor of Alaska off the c*ck, what hope is there for the daughters—and some of the sons—of average Americans?
I'm a cad for writing this, of course, because shortly before Bristol and Levi were paraded before cheering throngs at the Republican National Convention, the Palins asked the media to respect their daughter's privacy.
Another special right: When it comes to respecting your family's privacy, Palin and the GOP see no need. They want to micromanage the most intimate aspects of your private life. And if their own kids fail to live up to the standards that Palin and the GOP seek to impose on your family, well, that's a private matter between the Palins, their daughter, their God, and the thousands of screaming imbeciles in elephant hats waving McCain/Palin signs on the floor of the Republican National Convention.

| imjustme | 09-17-2008 03:43 PM | In my opinion, anyone that votes Republican after the last 8 catastrophic years deserves to be shot on the spot (and that's coming from a non-violent person, me). That's just the truth. You can't expect the world (not the US, but the world) to put up another 4 and potentially 8 years of Republican bullpoop. McCain is talking about going to war with Iran (a nuclear power), Palin is talking about going to war with Russia (which has about 10,000 nuclear weapons).
Sorry, if after the past 8 years and even more talk about future wars you still vote Republican, you don't deserve to live on this planet.
The US had a great reputation in the world before the last 8 years and the Republicans managed to totally ruin it. Go anywhere in the world and tell them you're American and see what they talk behind your back. It's all about the Republican foreign policies. Threaten, invade, bomb, change government. Forget about diplomacy. And McCain is already starting again and he's not even elected yet.
It wasn't always like that, you know. The US used to have a great reputation and Americans were respected everywhere. Not anymore. If you want to get back to that, you should vote for Obama. He may not be perfect, but better than McCain. If you want more war, more US citizens dying in wars that should have never been fought, vote for McCain.
If McCain gets elected and next year you see an invasion of Iran or/and a war with Russia, come back here and read what I wrote, then hit your head on the wall for having voted Republican. |

| I'm military (Airforce acutally) and I don't like leaving my family for war, but some things are necessary. If we elect McCain DOES NOT mean we will go to war but rather he would consider a bit longer or harder since he was a POW! Please get real. Quote:

Heres something..
Obama recently released an attack ad making fun of McCain for not being able to use a computer.
Sad story, McCain cannot use a computer because of the torture he endured in Viet Nam.

I'd rather not have a dirt bag running our country... It's pretty obvious he respects military etc.. (sarcasm) And he probably won't send more military members overseas because he genuinely cares.. (sarcasm again)
Your whole war theory is bull****.. Sorry. |

| imjustme | 09-17-2008 04:46 PM | Iran is a threat because the United States' current foreign policy pushes it towards becoming a threat. If your country is over years being threatened, you end up having to develop nuclear weapons to defend yourself.
Iraq didn't have any weapons of mass destructions. They said it, the UN inspectors said it, the Republican government invaded anyways.
When Bush's daddy was head of the CIA, he supplied Osama Bin Laden and the Mujaheddin in Afghanistan with money and weapons to help them fight the proxy cold war. Everybody forgot about that? He actually created the terrorists and I'm sorry to say, Jeremiah Wright (Obama's pastor) was right when he said that the chickens are coming home (or whatever the sentence was). I don't write the world history, but it's there for anyone that has open eyes to see it.
And if Clinton was a bad president because he got a blowjob from his secretary, I'd prefer that any day over a president that sends his troops to war and gets thousands of them killed, and 90,000 civilians killed in Iraq over weapons of mass destruction that never existed and he made up to go to war. What's worse? Lying about getting your dick sucked or getting 90,000 innocent people killed?
Back to Iran. Just like Iraq, they are no threat to the United States. Why would Iran want to attack the United States? They don't, they won't, leave them alone and they will leave you alone too. Oh, you mean they will attack Israel? Well, that was a moronic idea anyways to place a Jewish state in the middle of Arab countries. They should have created Israel in Texas or somewhere.
And to be honest, if you elect a president in today's age that can't use a computer and can't drive a car ...yes, McCain can't drive a car, Cindy McCain said that herself in a morning talk show ..seriously. A 100 years ago that was acceptable, in today's age, not really. McCain even talks about Yugoslavia, a country that hasn't existed for over 10 years.
McCain was a POW, yes. But he's no war hero, he's an idiot. Nobody forced him to go fight the Vietnam War. That was another worthless war. I can go to Iraq right now and get captured, does that make me a war hero? No, it makes me an idiot.
Bottom line is, I'm done trying to convince Republicans. They don't care about the world and the world knows it. For Republicans, the world ends right outside their doorstep and what happens beyond is either not their business or too far away to bother with.
And that just makes me feel sad, not only for the world, but also for the individuals who can't see that. |
| imjustme | 09-17-2008 04:56 PM | Let me leave you with this ... a Republican is like a deer trying to cross the street. It will see the car. It will also see the lights, yet it will still try to make a run for it and end up getting hit by the car. And what does the next deer do? The exact same thing, even though the deer before got hit by the car. http://i.pbase.com/g3/96/533696/2/88399042.z3IhT7Sh.jpg |
| Quasi_Mojo | 09-17-2008 06:54 PM | Republican = Deer
America = Car
If you hit enough deer, you won't be able to drive your car anymore. And one of those deer might kill you (or your family member in the military). |

| imjustme | 09-18-2008 07:14 AM | Like Modee said, you have to view the US from outside the US to see what's wrong and where it needs to improve. I've lived in a lot of countries including the US, Canada, Spain, Germany and Japan among others. "Lived" meaning I spent at least 3 years of my life living there.
I can tell you each one of those countries has the same freedom, the same liberties and everything else as the US has. The US might have been the best place in the world to live in the 1960's, 1970's, 1980's, etc. whenever the economy was strong and basic freedoms were respected. But not anymore.
But when people get arrested in airports for wearing a t-shirt with a transformer on it or for saying the word "bomb" (as in "that's the bomb"), that's not freedom anymore, sorry. There are other countries with more job availability, less poverty, better education and better salaries. Many of these countries, with less money than the US, have free health care for their citizens. The current Republican administration doesn't even properly take care of its own veterans, much less ordinary citizens.
Nearly 60% of US soldiers serving in Iraq can't find Iraq on a map. Is that good education? No.
The current Republican administration is wasting 10 billion dollars in Iraq per month and McCain wants to keep that up for another 100 years, in his own words. That money should be used for education, for creating workplaces and improving health care. How many new schools and hospitals does 10 billion *a month* pay for? A lot.
So I'm sorry to say, but educated America votes Democrat. Uneducated America votes Republican. The above proves it and even the electoral map proves it.
As of today: http://www.electoral-vote.com/evp200...Pngs/Sep18.png
All of the less educated states vote Republican. All of the educated states vote Democrat. People in California, New York, Washington State, Michigan, Oregon, etc. all know a lot more about the world than people in Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Wyoming, etc.
I'm not saying everyone, but the majority that is needed to turn a state blue or red.
In the end, it comes down to foreign policies. The Republican foreign policy is a nightmare. When you stick your head into the business of other countries, you end up getting into trouble. Ever wondered why countries like France, Italy, Brazil, Argentina, Australia, Japan, Russia, etc. don't have terrorist attacks? Not because they're not freedom-loving or because they don't have freedom. That's the typical Bush line " they attack us because they hate freedom...". Bullpoop. Terrorists love freedom just as much as Americans and Japanese do. Terrorism has nothing to do with freedom. It's because they don't interfere with politics of other countries. Interfering with politics of other countries creates problems. Problems create hate. Hate creates terrorism.
I'm sorry, see it or not, believe it or not, but that's the truth. |
| imjustme | 09-18-2008 07:21 AM | And yet again, McCain is confusing countries. Quote:
During an interview in Miami earlier this week with Spanish-language station Union Radio, a reporter asked McCain whether, if elected, he would receive Zapatero in the White House. McCain answered, "Honestly, I have to analyze our relationships, situations, and priorities, but I can assure you that I will establish closer relationships with our friends, and I will stand up to those who want to harm the United States.
Ouch. The question about Zapatero, clearly framed by the reporter as a question about Spain, came after inquiries on Venezuela, Bolivia, and Cuba. As a result, much of the Spanish press has decided that the Republican candidate, who hails himself as the experienced foreign policy choice in this election, confused Spain — a NATO member and key ally in the fight against terrorism — with one of those troublesome Latin American states. That was certainly the interviewer's impression, for she followed up with a gentle reminder that Spain was a country in Europe."
| Spain is a key ally in the war on terror and a strong NATO member. Yet McCain has it confused with a South-American country and promises to "stand up to them".
This guy is a nut! But read it for yourself here: Did McCain Diss Spain? - TIME
You can't elect a guy for president that doesn't even know the countries that are key allies and thinks Spain is a country in South America. |

How about Columbia University or Johns Hopkins? Citadel? Tulane? Loyola? These are the main schools members of my family have attended. Graduate and undergraduate. We are all Republicans. BTW, I personally know some of the Rockefeller family -- as in John D Rockefeller. His daughters family Geraldine Rockefeller - Marcellus Hartley Dodge -- They are republicans too!
I understand you have a right to your opinion just as you have the right to express that opinion however, to say Republicans are not educated is, well, hysterical! |
| imjustme | 09-18-2008 10:15 AM | I didn't talk about single people, but generally speaking. Of course there are billionaires behind the Republican party just like there are billionaires behind the Democrat party, but if you look at the electoral map, you understand what I mean.
I never said that Republicans were uneducated. What I said is that the majority of people living in the states that vote Republican, are uneducated. Not just uneducated in terms of university and college degrees, but in terms of knowledge of the "outside world". You can have a degree in this and that and still be uneducated. An expensive degree doesn't mean anything if you can't put Iraq on the map, think that Spain is in South America, Yugoslavia still exists or you still believe that the base of the economy is strong.
McCain is an idiot puppet pushed into the spotlight by the people who run the Republican party who hope that equal idiots will vote for him.
You vote for McCain, that's great for you and you have my sincere condolences, honestly. Just don't expect the rest of the world to be on the same level. |
| Caseyjr86 | 09-18-2008 04:41 PM | LOL --- imjustme, every single one of your posts its SOOOO biased its not even funny. You think because you moved around you have a better view of the country? Saying things like "educated people vote democrat" or to that extent is just ridiculous. Most of your "facts" are things without valid proof. 60% of us soldiers don't know where iraq is? Please, tell me where you find this statistic..
Things like this make me laugh... Quote:
